Arcadia 85: Eco-Friendly Single-Level Yacht

arcadia 85
The styling of the Arcadia 85 is decidedly different. Abundant angles along the superstructure immediately catch your eye. There’s also more glass in that superstructure than most yachts, even larger ones, have. The side panes of glass are nearly floor to ceiling, and several extend up overhead as well.

Also decidedly different is the amount of alfresco space, shaded and in the sun. The Arcadia 85’s aft deck is 26 feet long and a roomy 23 feet wide. If you looked at her alongside a same-size yacht from any other builder, you’d see far less cockpit space, both in length and width. Shifting the superstructure forward makes for part of the difference.

Here’s a better perspective of the master stateroom. Arcadia Yachts mixed satin-finished woods with high-gloss ones and contrasted pale tones with darker tones, too, aboard this spec-built project, the first U.S. model. Owners can outfit the interiors the way they wish, of course. It’s easy to imagine people preserving the intimate breakfast/seating area just visible in the foreground, however.
solar panels
With all of those solar panels overhead, you might think that the captain’s job of keeping an eye on instrumentation becomes harder during the daytime. Arcadia Yachts thought about this ahead of time. Each panel can pivot so that a room can become as shady or as bright as you wish.
engine room
Both the U.S. version and the European version have twin 730-hp MTU power, for the same performance figures. Arcadia Yachts says the 85 sees a 16½-knot cruise speed and 18½-knot top speed. Most-efficient cruise comes at 12 knots, when the yacht can reportedly achieve an 850-nautical-mile range. That’s more than enough to get you hopping around the Bahamas.
