Overview
The Alerion Express 28 captures the timeless elegance of Nathaniel Herreshoff's original design for his boat "Alerion" and combines it with a modern under-body, spars and construction processes.
"Chickadee" has been well maintained by her two owners and is in excellent condition inside and out.
On deck, the boat sports modern accoutrements - Harken furler, Hall Quik Vang, Lewmar self-tailing winches and a Jib Boom - but the feeling is traditional sailing yacht. The cockpit is flanked by full-length bench seats backed by teak coamings. Rising from the exposed rudder post at the aft end of the cockpit is a gracefully curved teak tiller.
Down below, the Alerion offers the basic arrangement of berths, galley and head that has served sailors well for so long. The gorgeously varnished teak and holly sole, white Formica surfaces detailed with teak trim and navy cushions with red piping present the practical elegance of a traditional sailing yacht.
