Description
Snufkin epitomises the family sailing yacht for the UK East Coast. She is fitted with many great options and is presented in good order with one family owning her from new in 2010 when she was purchased from here at Fox's Yacht Sales. She has the benefit of shoal keel and a sugar scoop stern enabling her to offer the best of both worlds for river and coastal sailing whilst still offering the option for trips to Holland, Belgium and France.
Her 2017 standing rigging, coppercoat hull and Brunton's feathering propeller add to the upgrades helping to keep maintenance costs down and making her slippery through the water.
Inside she is immaculate and clearly loved with good quality, clean surfaces and upholstery in light colours to give the greatest feeling of light and space.
Standing headroom in the saloon for my 6'1" height was welcome, as was the easy galley and dual sinks and large fridge. The huge berth in the separate aft cabin offers comfortable sleeping for taller people as well. With another separate cabin forward offering a 'V' berth with infill and straight berths to the saloon, she is good for sleeping six crew.
Furling headsail and slab reefing to the main work well and her simple rig and newer standing rigging set the sails well.
We sailed her the 25 miles or so from her home port to Fox's and were pleased to see she has the performance expected of a hull which can draw its roots back to the Figaro race yachts. She sailed extremely well, cutting comfortably through the waves and providing decent speed with her white sails which set particularly well. Under engine she accelerated and stopped well with the Brunton's prop biting confidently. She is available to view on our hardstanding at Fox's Marina.

Sails
The jib and main in white Dacron offer a balanced rig, both being 24.6 sqm. Slab reefing with two reefs are single line led to the cockpit and easy to control without needing to go to the mast. The lazybag looks in great order and with a potential for 8 knots under white sails she is a sprightly performer.
The asymetric cruising chute offers additional speed and flexibility with its striking colours and being in good order.
Design
As the range entry model, the Océanis 31 bears a strong family resemblance to its larger siblings by combining elegance with ingenuity for maximum cruising pleasure.
Interior by Nauta Yachts giving a mix of privacy for the cabins but space in the saloon, heads and galley. The yacht itself, designed by Finot Conq, makes the Oceanis 31 a joy with her easy handed yet fluid hull form.
