Description
In 1940, a luxurious wooden saloon boat was built in Brundall (UK) by the well-known and one of the oldest British shipyards, Brooms Boats. Even before she had her first owner, she was requisitioned by the British Army in order to be deployed during "Operation Dynamo" and the evacuation of British soldiers as one of the "Little Dunkirk Ships" as we know them today from the movie "Dunkerq". In 1946, after she returned to the shipyard, the yacht got her first private British owner. In the late 1970s, she moves to the Netherlands to undergo a first thorough restoration in 1995. When the yacht gets a Belgian owner in 2003, she is christened "Broomside," her current name. In 2017, she is included in the 'inventory of real estate heritage' in Flanders. The yacht is lovingly maintained and underwent a thorough refit with respect for the original design and construction method.
The Broomside has an impressive history. It is a fascinating yacht that draws all the attention when underway or in ports. You cannot look past this one. The yacht has elegant lines, a robustness and at the same time a romance. It has a slim design with pointed bow that flares out elegantly to the rear.
The interior breathes history. At the center is the wheelhouse with a door on each side and below it the engine hatch. Aft is a seating area with a table and two chairs and a long sofa that doubles as a sofa or extra bed. The narrow double door brings you into the galley at the very back. It is a beautiful space with understated design.
Forward, the yacht has a similar layout with the same narrow wooden doors. The cabin has a bed on either side with storage space underneath and in the tip is a toilet with hand wash basin.
With this classic wooden salon boat you can take fine trips. It is an eye-catcher, a yacht to cherish and enjoy every detail. Broomside is looking for a new owner to write her next chapter. Do you feel the passion?
