Welcome to Yachtsource

Yachtsource image My name is Bob Sherman. Whether you are buying or selling, I want you to have a great boating experience! I would like to to earn your business as your Yacht Broker. This is not unlike a job interview, so here is my background:

I started in Yacht Sales in 1987. I was a top producer at several of the better San Diego brokerages for 14 years, learning from the best of the best. I obtained my Broker's license and started "YachtSource" in 2001. With over 30 years experience and hundreds of transactions to date, I have maintained an excellent reputation as one of the "good guys" in the industry. I sell boats all over the continent. Whether buying or selling, I can put this knowledge and experience to work for you!

A native San Diegan, I grew up in a sailing family, and sailing has been a passion my whole life. I started teaching at the age of 18, and became a USCG licensed Captain in 1982, at the age of 21. I hold a 100-ton Master's Certificate, and regularly use my license for corporate charter regattas. I am qualified to teach on sail or power boats. As a former Realtor with Coldwell Banker, I have enhanced training and skills that are parallel to the Yacht Brokerage industry. I am an avid scuba diver, and owned a 38 foot sailboat for six years. While I now sell more power boats than sail, sailing and sailboat racing remains my passion.

I am a member in good standing with the California Yacht Broker's Association, which has high ethical standards. I utilize the CYBA contracts in my transactions, which offer the best protection for my clients. I regularly attend CYBA legal seminars to keep current on the latest issues and concerns.

I will provide you with the highest level of service, before, during, and after the sale. I want to share my expertise, and assist you making sound, educated decisions. If you are looking for a yacht broker who is friendly, honest, hard working, knowledgeable and enthusiastic, you need look no further. I encourage you to explore the additional links on my website, which you may find quite useful...especially to San Diego sailors and boaters!

photo of 46' Maxum LE LIMITED EDITION
2001 US$ 225,000

This beautiful, Limited Edition Maxum 4600 yacht is showroom condition inside and out, and offers unbeatable value in her price range. The Maxum’s two stateroom open floor plan, wrap around settee and entertainment center creates a welcoming and inviting feel to the salon area. The large enclosed flybridge provides ample seating, complete with a serving bar, sink and cabinet. Twin Cummins Diesels (with under 780 hours!!) provide solid performance, reliability & economy. And to top it off, she is LLC-owned.

The "Limited Edition" Maxum 46-LE offers "European Sport Cruiser" styling, layout and elegance, at a fraction of the cost...with the simplicity and reliability of an American boat builder! This highly desirable "LE" is an upgraded version of the popular Maxum 46. The interior is quite grand in comparison, with a stunning, high-gloss cherry finish, luxurious fabrics, and black Corian countertops. The fit and finish is several steps above the standard will hardly believe it is the same boat!  The LE has a lot more "sizzle", and improvements that were lacking in the original version.

Built only in 2001/2002, the rare "LE" model included a fiberglass hardtop on the bridge, higher horsepower 450 Cummins diesels, dripless shaft seals, Airsep filtration systems, 110V power inverter, a larger 12.5KW genset, and Microcommander Electronic engine controls. The enclosed flybridge provides a whole extra "room" of living space. The hardtop gives better protection from heat, cold, or rain.  The standard  Maxum 46  cruises at a relatively sluggish 15-16 knots, but the LE will cruise around 20 knots, and top near 23, depending upon load. But one of the biggest differences is quality of the interior fit and finish!

I have sold this boat several times since 2006, when she was purchased from her original owner. She has been lightly used and pampered by all her caring owners, including regular buffing & waxing. She has all the desirable  amenities, and has had significant upgrading in the last few years:

2018 upgrades include a new battery charger, new cockpit speakers, new anchor, LED lighting upgrades, new shower sump/pump, rudder glands repacked, and more. Surveys done in February had only minor recommendations; all since completed!  Buff & wax in June.

2017 upgrades include: new interior carpet, new exterior carpet, new canvas with distortion-free enclosure, new sun pads and covers, bottom paint, prop tune and balance, oil changes, and new holding tank. She had a buff & wax in March and December. Both engines had a full cooling system overhaul, including removal and service of all coolers, new raw water pumps, new raw water hoses, and fresh coolant. The oil and filters were changed in the mains and transmissions as well.

2016 upgrades included all batteries being replaced with maintenance-free gel cells.

2015 upgrades included a new refrigerator, a new inverter., and new mesh window covers.

2014 upgrades included fresh bottom paint, new flat-screen TV in salon.

This yacht is titled as a single-asset LLC. Contact a qualified professional regarding the potential advantages.  She is in exceptional condition. You will not find a better value in this price range. Make an appointment to view her today!
