She offers an unbeatable sailing experience, combined with luxurious levels of comfort. Since its launch in 2013, it has impressed reviewers and sailors alike, with test reports praising the boat for its 'dinghy-like feel', fast pace, and the ability to sail the boat rapidly and easily double-handed. Utlising the same hi-tech construction methods as the rest of the Xp range, the Xp 55 has an impressive ballast ratio for her size for controllable, stable, high performance sailing. Cruising or racing
Is always been discussed, whether it is possible to combine the perfect cruiser with the perfect racer.
The answer is of course, that for dedicated cruising, heavier yachts, with improved storage capacity, are best for pure cruising,
and yachts without any cruising facilities, are better for pure racing.
The typical X-Yachts audience enjoy sailing a yacht, which due to the design quality and details combined with the purposely chosen build quality, are giving them the experience of being on board a yacht, with the best possible sailing qualities.
Every single X-Yachts hull is built in sandwich construction, to save weight and to enable the best possible ballast to
displacement ratio, to enable the yacht to carry a large enough sail area to “perform” in lighter winds, but also enables the yacht
to carry the sail area efficiently, when the breeze comes in.
The sailing quality will “step up the game” for yachts in this size, of reasons mentioned above. The sailing length will increase from 16.3 m to 16.7 m. The VPP tests indicate that the Xp 55 will be 6% faster upwind WMG in the mid wind range, and between 8% and 12% faster on a reach in a breeze of 20 knots. Standard specification will include space in the stern for a 3.10 m RIB, will have 4 large cockpit lockers, a cockpit table, which neatly can be stored under the cockpit floor, next to the space for the lift raft. There are standard 4 large self tailing winches, which operate all halyards, sheets and trim lines in the aft end of the comfortable and well protected cockpit. The wheel pedestals will be customized to hold the instruments the clients demand. The optional bow sprit in carbon fibre, which elegantly hides the yachts anchor arm, will be able to “hold” an asymmetrical spinnaker of 240 m2. Interior will be light and friendly in a style, which combines the modern Scandinavian “clean” and practical style blended with details, which mirrors the extensive experience of the company’s “in house” interior design department. Two alternative interiors in the aft end of the yacht enable the client to choose between a version, where both aft cabins have an ensuite head/bathroom, or just one, where the galley and port aft cabin are enlarged, and allow space for additional equipment such as a full size washing machine. The forward end of the yacht is offered with two traditional options, either a centre double berth or this berth to one side, which then allows passage through the forward located owners toilet/bathroom to sail cabin, which is large enough to accommodate a pipe berth and an extra toilet/sink.
