Have you ever dreamed of living aboard a truly magnificent vessel with the hopes of spending the winters in the Islands and summers on the Chesapeake or cruising Maine? Have you been worried about following these dreams with the high cost of fuel? Mosey is a long range, heavy displacement trawler with the capabilities of crossing any ocean. The extremely capable John Deere engine is slow turning and uses only 3 gallons of diesel per hour at the comfortable cruising speed of 8 knots. Even though her top speed is significantly greater, 8 knots is the "happy speed" for the vessel, her engine and her crew. Mosey's heritage starts with a hull designed by Sparkman & Stephens for navel research. The curvatures below the waterline were formed from steel plate by the application of heat and cold to create the smooth bends of the perfect full displacement shape. The hull is truly a work of art and the shape makes for a fully protected bottom. Both the rudder and propeller are protected with an extension of the long, sweeping keel. From the keel to the roof of the pilot house, she is constructed of mild steel ranging from the 1" thick keel plate to the 3/16" thick pilot house roof. Everything above the pilot house is built using marine-grade aluminum, including the flybridge skirt and the equipment mast with crows nest. Aluminum was used in these upper structures to keep the center of gravity low, thus increasing the initial and ultimate stability. The flybridge skirt is welded to the mild steel pilothouse roof using Dupont Detacoupler. After several years, there are absolutely no signs of galvanic issues. The aluminum mast is attached to the pilothouse roof using edge on 316 flat bar and Delrin insulation. The design concepts were created with the goal of creating a safe and capable passagemaker. Mosey is a I-owner yacht, originally placed in the water in 2004 and first operational in 2007. She has a proven track record of spending months at a time anchored in the Exumas and exploring the US East Coast from the keys through Maine. Details: • Mosey is totally functional and much of the interior woodworking has been down. There is a significant amount of woodworking that still needs to be completed, but this can be done on a new owner's timetable since she can be enjoyed as is. • Two comfortable staterooms and two heads. Both berths have queen size memory foam mattresses. Additional sleeping arrangements can be accommodated with wrapped around couches in the salon and the watchman's berth in the pilothouse. Even though 99 percent of the cruising has been with two onboard, Mosey has accommodated 7 for a week at a time and has handled up to 44 for day cruises. • Master stateroom is aft and includes 19 dove tail drawers, 2-double hanging lockers, LE ventless washer/dryer, head with toilet/sink, vanity, desk, 2-person Duet Jacuzzi tub. • Guest Stateroom forward with large hanging locker, shower with seat, toilet, sink. • The salon and galley are on the same level and designed to minimize separation of persons in either area. Drawers are complete, but cabinet doors still need to be built. • The Raised Pilothouse with dual Stidd 1200 helm seat, watchman's berth, Dutch doors port/starboard, sliding door aft. All doors have ½" tempered glass. The dual helm seat is located at the longitudinal and transversal pivot points of the vessel. In head seas, whoever is in this seat experiences very little motion. When turning, the vessel pivots at this point making docking very predictable. • Walk-in engine room has engine, generator and fuel polishing system. Engine batteries are located outside the engine room and above the waterline. The engine room can also be accessed by a hatch in the salon floor. • The separate "system room" has water maker, air compressor, holding tank, water manifold system, dual water heaters, water pumps, ships batteries. • Mosey's bottom anti-foul has just been renewed during the spring of 2024 with SeaGuard Black 45% copper. The bow thruster and tube are painted with white anti-foul to provide better visibility during the normal underwater inspections/cleanings. • Recent Repairs: Recent paint on topside, new hydraulic lines on main 1500 pound davit, new motor on 500 pound pipe davit, new air conditioning/heating system, new rudder bearing, seal replacement in hatches. Specifications: • LOA 70'-4", 18' Beam, LWL 61', 62 tons dry displacement, A/B ration 1.48, D/L Light Ship 507, Bridge Clearance 30'-7", Hull Speed 10.4 knots, Fuel consumption at 8 knots: 3 gal/hr, Range at 8 knots: Approx 8K miles statute/7K nautical miles. • Sparkman Stephens Hull Design, true full displacement with soft chines, 1" thick keel plate, fully protected 32' Michigan workhorse wheel, 5' rudder. • Single John Deere 6081 AFM01 with TwinDisk Gear, approx. 2500 Hours, walk-in, all steel engine room. A-rated for continuous duty at 1900 RPMs or B-rated at 2300 RPMs. A secondary Balmar alternator keeps the ship's house batteries charged while cruising. • Westerbeke 12.6 Generator, 2100 hours • Twin sea chests in devoted water room. No thru hulls below waterline. • 1500 pound hydraulic davit off port side, 3 axis control. 500 pound pipe davit off starboard side. • 12" Wesmar Dual Prop Bow thruster, 24 volt, with ½" thick steel thruster tube. • 12 AGM Golf Cart Batteries wired in 3 groups (parallel) of 4 (series) for 24v DC service • Dual Xantrex 1800 Inverters are designed to equally pull of each leg of 240v power. The 240v Charles Industries Battery Charger also pulls equally from both legs of the 240v power. The Incoming shore power feeds into a Charles Industries Isoboost Isolation Transformer and requires only the L1 and L2 legs. The vessel is therefore electrically isolated from other nearby boats and dock structures. Custom Paneltronics panels for 12v, 24v, 120v and 240v. Floating ground with single hull attachment point behind panels. All wiring and electrical design were done in accordance with ABYC standards for vessels equipped with an isolation transformer. Both engine and generator have floating grounds. • HRO 700 gal/day /desalinator. • 2800 Gal Diesel in 4 tanks + 150 Gal Day tank, Dual Racor 1000 Filters, Jabsco Pump fuel polishing/transfer system rated continuous duty. Main engine draws fuel only from day tank after passing through dual Racor 500 filters. • 475 Gal Stainless Fresh water tank, dual 30 gal water heaters plumbed in series. Manifold water distribution using PEX lines and fittings. • ICOM M802 SSB, ICCOM M602, Furuno Autopilot with continuous running pump, Furuno 64 mile Radar, Furuno Depth, Furuno GPS, Electronic rate-adjusted gyro, weather system, computer based navigation. • Mitsubishi split 3-zone smart inverter heatpump - no sea water needed. Work while dry docked. • Toilets are vacuum flush with dual generators and 39-gallon tank. Keyed secured overboard discharge system when appropriate. • Bullet resistant Lexan glazing in all 21 windows. Tempered glass portlights in cabins. • All welded 316L, 1.5* safety rails, hip-bone height, designed to keep occupants out of the water in ocean conditions. Rails are welded to the gunnels for maximum strength. Safety rails or bow pulpit are extra high to provide security when tending the anchor or just for the pure fun of riding while underway. • Maxwell VWC 4000 24v Windlass with 80kg anchor and 400 feet chain, foot controls and remote in pilothouse. Chain break. Sea water washdown system. • Storm snubber near waterline on bow for lowering anchor scope and relieving stress on chain rollers during severe weather. • Galley up with Corian countertops, 5-burner/oven propane stove, microwave hood, drawer refrigerator, dishwasher, trash compactor, chest freezer, side refrigerator, ice maker. Dual propane tanks are placed under outside seating forward of the galley with Trident Gas Control System. Galley has 13 dovetail drawers with 1 extra large for pots and pans. Pantry over chest freezer. • The salon has a surround sound system and LCD TV. • Designed and built as a survivalist vessel with enhanced security and storage. Many details will only be revealed to the new owner.
