When the Riviera 33 Open Flybridge was launched in 2004, she caused quite a stir. She featured hull tunnels for the propellers delivering better performance and underwater exhausts. The design innovations caught the attention of judges at Modern Boating who gave her their Cruiser of the Year award in 2005. The 33 was designed as a couple’s boat with just one stateroom, a large cabin forward with queen double bed and en-suite bathroom. If the owners wanted to welcome guests overnight, the U-shape dinette could easily convert to a double bed. The galley, two steps up from the accommodation deck, included a single burner electric cooktop, moulded sink with drainer, microwave oven and under-bench fridge. The flybridge featured an aft helm with companion chair and a bench seat forward for guests. Power came from twin Volvo D6 turbo diesel engines rated to 310 hp.
