The profile creates almost a "sport sedan" look for the 41DS, and its large polished-aluminum windows definitely sets the DS apart from its sister ship. Inside, the headroom has been increased 4" to a spectacular 6'10". The voluminous ceilings are covered with a light fabric called Whisper-Air, which combines with the increased light entering from the sizeable new windows to produce a comfortable, bright and open feel.
OceanAire designer shades cover the windows when privacy is desired and add a nice decorative touch.
The standard two-cabin version has an aft master stateroom with queen innerspring mattress, cedar-lined hanging locker, built-in vanity, and a dual-entrance head with shower.
The forward guest suite has a wide double berth, built-in vanity, and private head with shower. Galley highlights include a custom stainless steel refrigerator and freezer, dual deep sinks, pantry, gimbaled two-burner propanestove with oven, a glass-fronted lighted dishware cabinet and deluxe Corian countertops.
The 41DS maintains the 41's sail plan and hull design. The B & R rig with a large mainsail and smaller head sail is a Hunter trademark, and all the running rigging is within reach of the cockpit to make sailing single-handed a breeze.
The innovative steel overhead traveler arch keeps the deck safe and uncluttered, and offers a great place to connect a bimini or attach stereo speakers. A more vertical bow profile is utilized to maximize waterline length and decrease pitching motion.

Accommodations are spacious and luxurious. The master cabin is aft with a real queen size inner spring mattress and plenty of storage, while the guest suite with a double inner spring mattress is forward and includes a private head, shower and vanity. The aft head doubles as day head and offers a separate stall shower. Hunter’s engineers have utilized every inch of space and it really shows in the salon. A u-shaped convertible dinette and opposing sofa will comfortably seat 8 and the large navigation station will hold all the current electronics. Options like a flat-panel television and Bose stereo will enhance the experience aboard.
The Corian covered galley is well thought out and includes separate stainless steel refrigerator and freezer, double stainless sink and a dual range with oven. A lighted dishware compartment complete with the dishes is standard as is the microwave.
With the signature B & R rig for ease of sailing and a new slippery hull from Glenn Henderson, Hunter's head designer, the 41 incorporates many of the hull design innovations from Hunter's larger boats in a more compact size. A Bow Hollow and Stern Reflex are performance enhancers taken from the latest racing craft and adapted to give a larger cruiser a lift in speed.
The deck layout is arranged to maximize space and comfort and allow for short-handed sailing. A new Whitlock pedestal provides more space for electronics and more room to move around the cockpit. A massive sail locker can house the propane tanks and optional generator with room to spare.
