Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

• Basic hull and structure is welded aluminum including superstructure with three full watertight bulkheads and two half-height watertight bulkheads.
• Bottom is 12mm aluminum plate.
• Integral aluminum tanks for water and diesel form a double bottom between the three full height watertight bulkheads.
• 19mm tempered windows with storm boards.
• The hull structure is massively strong with a double bottom throughout the accommodation space. The stabilizers are mounted within cofferdams.
• Matching grey chequer plate decking on exterior decks.
• External handrails, stanchions and foremast, et al are 316 L stainless steel.
• The ‘bolt on’ swim step extension section adds to the waterline length and reduces drag six to eight percent. It also creates valuable space for loading/unloading passengers and stores from the dinghy, exiting to floating docks, and easy access off the stern for swimming. Finally, this extra waterline increases longitudinal resistance, further reducing pitching. In addition, the measured length of the hull? We will just say that the bolt-on nature of the extension offers a degree of flexibility with “official” measurements not available with a welded extension. The extension has a hand rail fitted to it and this has been uprated 2022.
• There is 6500lb of lead ballast, encapsulated within the fuel tanks.

Engine & Gearboxes:

• 2 x John Deere 4054 TFM, 150HP at 2,600 RPM, with ZF280 A 2.47-1 reduction, with live PTOs.
• Glendenning shift/throttle controls. This system includes an engine room drive and processor box (connected with Morse cables to shift and throttle) along with two permanent control stations and one remote.
• Marelon plastic skin fittings are used throughout.
• ZF280 V 2.556 to 1 reduction transmission with Drive Saver.

 

Maintenance & Performance:

• Minimum range of positive stability: 125 degrees.
• Cruising speed: 12 knots.
• Top speed: 14 knots.
• Range: 6,000 miles at 12 knots; 7,800 miles at 11 knots; 9,800 miles at 10 knots.

 

Note: speeds/ranges are for smooth water, half load and clean bottom.

Propulsion & Steering:

• 32” diameter, 5-blade propellers counter rotating, with a spare set stored onboard.
• Aqument shaft and Python drive.

• Steering system – twin rudder with dual, independent Kobelt steering cylinders and two independent hydraulic systems and autopilots.
• Steering cylinder valves refitted 2022.

• A “JOG” control is mounted near the navigation area engine controls for steering manually with a second JOG control on the matrix deck.

• Hydraulic oil for stabilizers and crash pump is hull-cooled. Refitted 2022.

• Murphy sight gauges tied to Maretron system for main engine oil level, gear pressure, coolant temp, and coolant level.
• All raw water cooling needs served through single sea chest with clean-out above waterline and dual heavy-duty strainers isolated by valves.

Voltage Systems:

• Vessel primary AC – 230V, with all main systems (air conditioning, water maker, induction cook top, speed oven, washer and dryer) able to run on 230V – 50 or 60 Hz.
• Vessel house/domestic AC – 110V US household standard.
• 3 x Victron 5kW 240VAC charger/invertors.
• Victron 3kW, 110VAC invertor.
• Victron Autotransformer 120VAC.
• 110 volt (US standard), 240 volt, 24 volt and 12 volt plugs are located strategically throughout the boat.

• 3 x Victron Energy 24 Volt 5kW battery chargers.

Alternators:

• Electrodyne 6150-24 belt driven alternatives on each engine (remote air-cooled rectifiers). 360 amps combined.
• This is sufficient to run key onboard 120 and 240 volt AC power systems via the inverters while underway (and docking) and recharge the batteries without running the generator.

 

Generator:

• Northern Lights 8KW, 220V, single phase.
• Generator Hours - 2,131.
• Double hose clamps fitted to flexible hose connections (2022).
• Generator exhaust raw water mixing elbow replaced (2022).

 

Shore Power:

• AC shore power – incoming shore power is isolated via an isolation transformer for safety and to protect boat electronics.
• Two shore power connection points, one in the forepeak and one on the aft deck, accept either 30 amp (115V – 60Hz) or 50 amp (230V - 50 or 60 Hz).
• Inverter/chargers can be adjusted to support available incoming amperage.
• Shore power cords and large selection of international adapters – 240 volt, 115 volt – enable worldwide plug-in capabilities.
• Charles Industries 3KW one to two step-down transformer supplies 115VAC power to the 115V AC side of the panel in all situations (shore power, genset, or inverter power supply).

• A 50 amp 230 V AC 50’ cord and plug with a 30 AMP 115V plug and 50’ cord. Each feeds a 12KVA multiple tap isolation transformer (Also from Charles). 1-1 winding used with 230V shore power. Step up 1-2 winding used with 115V shore power. Selection switch between 115V and 230V shore power (or breakers with slider bar). Output of the 12KVA transformer goes to the ship’s master AC power selector switch.

• 230V breaker which supplies the three KVA step down transformer which in turn supplies the 115V AC voltage plug points.

Fresh Water & Water Heating System:

• 2 x Headhunter X-Caliber pressure pumps for redundancy.
• 55 liter stainless water heater with dual 2000 watt elements with heat exchanger that is part of the Kabola diesel boiler/engine waste heat circuit for hot water. System permits hot water and boat heating to be made from engine heat underway or at rest by electricity or Kabola heater.
• The deck fills are t’d into the fresh water tanks to catch rain. The deck fills just aft of frame 43 to the single aft tank through a commonly connected 2” line. Mouse holes in breakwaters are plugged with a rag or sponge when collecting rainwater.

 

Watermaker:

• Village Marine NF800 (33 GPH).

 

Bilge Pumps:

• Electric bilge pumping systems; 2 x Johnson/SPX/Viking diaphragm pumps with float switches in each space:Engine room: 2; Forepeak: 1; Port and starboard amidships: 2
• Emergency bilge pumping systems;2” Pacer hydraulic damage control crash pump, powered via the main engines PTO hydraulic pumps. Manifold valves to each space onboard. Manual an automatic controls. Hydraulic reservoir integral to port engine room hull.

• Tank tender level indicator for freshwater and diesel tankage.
• Sealand tank gauges for black water level indication.

 

Fuel:

• 2,600 US gallon (13,900 litre) in two main tanks, two listing trim tanks and day tank.
• Tanks are integral aluminum.
• High capacity fuel transfer/polishing system with two geared Oberdoerfer pumps for redundancy, polishing filtration and debug system allowing transfer from any tank to any tank via valved manifolds.
• Day tank topped up automatically with pump running, low level, fill level and high level alarms.
• Manifold from day tank to all primary consumers with dual Racor filtration on main engine and additional filtration to other diesel consumers.
• Separ 24V manifolded oil change pump. There are five ports: one each for engines, transmissions, and genset. This is used to remove oil only.

 

Fresh water:

• 1,975 US gallon (7,650 litre) in two integral aluminum tanks plus separate 70 liter / 18 gal polyethylene galley tank for filtered water.

 

Blackwater Holding Tanks:

• 2 x Polyethylene tanks – approximately 150 liter (40 US gal) capacity each – one serving the master head and one serving the aft head.
• Filtered tank breathers.
• Remote level indicators.

Galley:

• Miele speed oven (convection, conventional, microwave).
• Diva three-burner induction cook top.

• Custom refrigerator (roughly 348 Liters) and freezer (roughly 240 liters) in galley and second custom freezer in basement (roughly 162 liters).
• Each box cooled by a 24 volt Danfoss compressor with controls in the ship’s office and full soft-start modules.

Heads/Showers:

• Vacuflush freshwater heads with valving for direct overboard discharge, discharge to holding tanks with overboard macerator pumps and deck pumpout fittings.

• Dual self-priming Primetime pumps on pump relays.
• Hot water heat with thermostatically controlled fan coils throughout the yacht.
• Kabola hot water loop heats domestic water as well.
• Heat sources include the Kabola diesel boiler, electric hot water calorifier and engine waste heat exchanger.
• Manifold to bypass heating loop for summer operation.
• Awning system for salon windows (port and starboard).
• Complete set of hatch covers and rain dodger for master stateroom hatch.

 

Entertainment:

• Fusion stereo head unit connected to Sony amplifier serves four ceiling-mounted speakers in main salon headliner plus subwoofer. Stereo also supports a second zone of wired speakers on the flybridge although no speakers are currently installed. All stereo functions can be controlled via smartphone app from anywhere in the boat.
• 55’ TV on electric lift behind starboard settee in the Great Room.
• Both the Owner’s Stateroom and the 2 Guest Staterooms have bulkhead mounted TVs.
• WiFi Receiver with Wireless Router – external bullet antennas.

Description of layout from forwards:

 

WIND HORSE has a large forepeak forward, which is separated by a crash bulkhead. The Owner’s Stateroom is aft of this with a vanity and storage area forward, separated shower/bath compartment and heads compartment to port. On the starboard side there are capacious lockers and there is a king sized double berth forward facing with access to both sides. A hatch arrangement separates this cabin from the Great Room, which is accessed via steps.

 

The Great Room has a full bridge area with an L shaped seating and dining area to port and a sofa to starboard. This area is fitted with seat belts for use during passages. Aft of this is a U shaped galley area to port with a very full array of kitchen equipment and refrigeration. To port is further storage and space for the washing machine and dryer.

 

Beneath the sole boards is a huge storage area known as the basement with ample space for storing equipment and spares.

 

Down steps aft to 2 twin cabins each with their own en-suite heads compartment and a shared shower stall. These are comfortable and spacious cabins with ample storage.

 

The engine room is accessed through the shared shower and offers great access to all the systems and is easy to move around in. There is plenty of room for tools and spares.

 

Back in the Great Room there are steps up onto the aft deck which has plenty of room for 2 dinghies which can be deployed using the mast booms. Steps down to the large bathing platform for easy boarding. The side decks are wide and there is a large foredeck area.

 

WIND HORSE has steps up to a matrix deck – secondary steering and seating area situated above the Great Room

• Maxwell VWC 4000 24V windlass (with 2000W 24V motor and reversing solenoid). An Auto Anchor 500C up and down chain counter is located in the inside the bridge area. There is a remote up and down control station located on the Matrix deck. Chain stopper.
• Fortress F125 anchor for kedging/storm use.
•  Lewmar 24 VDC #66 chrome bronze 2 speed ST winch (including control box and foot switch).
• 4 x Lewmar manual two speed #40 aluminium winches.

 

Covers, Canvas & Cushions:

• Canvas covers for BBQ/sink console and flybridge helm/eating area.
• Side awnings and awning over master cabin hatch for sun protection.

• Engine room heat sensors, complete engine alarms along with other monitoring integrated to the Maretron system.
• Carbon Monocide Detector single station alarm renewed 2022.
