Hull number one of the yachts that inspired the successful Hylas 70. This comfortable and capable Germán Frers designed Hylas 66 was launched in 2004. The spacious cockpit has a teak table with an integral insulated ice box, seat and deck lockers and a large lazarette. A staired transom with a fold-down stainless-steel ladder makes access to the water easy for swimming or diving. The deck lockers are large and deep for stowing large fenders. The Stbd deck locker is designed to stow an outboard motor as large as 20hp vertically with the adjacent SS motor lift.
At the helm is a control panel with an array of joysticks controlling all the hydraulic functions of the twin motor Lewmar Commander system. These include all four sheet winches, anchor windlass and all furlers. A Lewmar 24 volt bow thruster is also controlled by a joystick at the helm. The chrome Antal sheet winches also have buttons located at the winch bases.
The mainsail is conveniently tamed by a Leisure Furl furling boom, and the headsails by Furlex hydraulic furling units. A cockpit Navtec System 50 panel controls the hydraulic boom vang and backstay cylinders.
The tall lifeline system and smartly placed stainless steel grab rails allow confident movement on deck. The bow is equipped with a double bow roller. The cockpit is protected by a dodger as well as a strong custom fixed bimini with 1.5” stainless tubing, and a clear window to view the mainsail trim.
A proven offshore cruiser that is ready for more comfortable voyaging.
