Extensively updated and refitted, professionally maintained from her current owner, great example to the successful Starkel 64 semi-custom mini-series. STELLA MARIS is now under just her second ownership since new.
FURTHER BROKER’S COMMENTS:
From the board of Roberto Starkel STELLA MARIS is one of five Starkel 64’s and she is the last built and the only one from Stella Polare shipyard in Italy. The previous four built (Mediterraneo, QuKal, Pacha and Mr. Bobo) were fitted from De Cesari shipyard while Stella Maris was conceived to be the new mark II updated version developed for one of the owner of the shipyard Cantieri Navali dell’Argentario that realized the interiors with their legendary quality in woodwork
Now in her second ownership of 10 years, STELLA MARIS has seen a continual programme of refit and upgrade in recent seasons including New synthetic teak deck from Plasdek, Victron Lithium Lion batteries, hydraulic inner forestay tensioner with new cableless furler staysail on Karver lock, state of the art electronics including H5000 B&G navigation geat, Stratis ULX Doyle sails wardrobre, fitment of a carbon bowsprit and so on.
STELLA MARIS’ specification highlights include:-
With a number of notable finishes in the cruising Maxi division thanks to their professional managed rating (ORC and IRC) including:
STELLA MARIS is now under just her second ownership since new and would represent a great option for those who are looking for a timeless beautiful boat. Freshly upgraded with lithium batteries and lighter brand-new generator, she now has a really competitive racing set up and also in lighter wind
OWNER’S COMMENTS:
Cruising with family the Aegean Sea under Meltemi with staysail, or racing in Adriatic’s light wind, STELLA MARIS is always at ease. It’s a very beautiful boat, timeless, a very marine project continuing to beat much newer boats in racing thanks to a maniacal maintenance and updating year over year.
BUILDER’S HISTORY:
The Stella Polare shipyard in Fiumicino was opened in 1971 and quickly became renowned for their speciality in classic and modern laminated wood construction and refit of one-off and semi-series yachts. With over 60 yachts launched since with the largest at 80 feet, the Starkel designed Star 64 is perhaps one of the most iconic. STELLA MARIS is the last built of the 5 hulls developed with the modules of the De Cesari Starkel Star 64. While the first 4 boats where fitted at De Cesari shipyard, hull nr. 5, which later became STELLA MARIS, was bought from Azzurra Yachting (one of the shareholder of Cantiere Navale dell’Argenario) with the aim to develop a brand new mini series of blue ocean fast cruiser
MAGAZINE REVIEW:
“The new craft is a development of the Starkel’s previous cutter and differs from her because of an unusual stainless steel cage which connects the shrouds, fin and ballast and thus hampers the flow of hull stresses. This innovative new structure actually absorbs the main loads and highest tensions, something which results in turn in maximum freedom when it comes to designing the interior layout.
The hull is much more robust than one would imagine. The shell is made from top quality resin sandwich reinforced with “E” glass fibre and Kevlar, while the closed cell PVC core boasts varies in thickness and density depending on the area of the hull and work load concerned. The whole shebang is finished off nicely with no less than six structural bulkheads resin-bonded to the deck and hull right around the perimeter.”
