1997 Freedom Yachts 40/40The 1997 Freedom 40/40, a David Pedrick Classic, was built to accommodate the serious cruising couple while being easy enough to get out there for just a few hours- even single handed. Extremely comfortable and spacious at rest and with her 9,749 lb 5'2" lead shoal draft wing keel (displacement 23,762 lbs.) and 13'6" beam that combine to make her a stiff, stable boat capable of standing up to wind and sea.
The 45-horsepower Yanmar diesel is a good choice for this Freedom. Hull speed under power is attainable easily without over-revving the engine.
Two heads, forward and after double berths, and two main saloon settee berths. The J-shaped galley has deep sinks close to the centerline and a gimballed Force Ten stove with broiler and oven. Across from the galley lies an aft-facing chart table.
