To port is an “L” shaped settee which converts to a double berth. The two-leaf bulkhead-mounted table folds down to seat six for dinner or folds up out of the way when not in use; storage shelves on bulkhead. A cabinet to starboard holds wine and bar bottle rack. Indirect lighting and custom light fixtures throughout. Custom cherry companionway doors with louver panels and screens, and raised panel inserts. The unique refrigerator and freezer compartments have counter-top and front opening doors and are cooled by top quality Grunert Holding Plates which are engine driven as well as 110vAC compressor. A new water cooling pump was installed in 2012 for increased efficiency. A Samsung microwave is installed above the galley sink on a custom shelf so it doesn’t steal valuable locker space, and the double basin polished stainless steel sink makes clean up a snap.

NAV STATION
Prior owners of Encore were experienced cruising sailors, having previously owned and sailed a 45 Freedom equipped with Stack-pac as well as other boats with in-mast furling.
Thurston VECTRAN (laminate cruising) mainsail. Main with Jib led to single-line control for SELF TACKING plus two-speed self-tailing ELECTRIC winch make this boat very easy to sail. All sail controls lead back to the cockpit, so you may raise, lower, reef, vang and sheet the sails from the safety of the cockpit.
The decks are wide and spacious. Integral anchor locker on the foredeck with electric anchor windlass and remote-control unit which can also be operated from the cockpit. Cockpit is T-shaped with large elkhide-covered wheel and WALK-THROUGH TRANSOM for the ultimate in easy access on and off the boat. The wide side decks make the Freedom 40/40 a very easy boat to get around. Swim platform has a telescoping swim ladder. Double, PVC-coated lifelines are extra high and are supported by stainless stanchions and bow and stern rails. “Spa” Sunbrella canvas includes a custom Dodger with elkhide-covered grab bar and handrails, full cockpit Bimini, and full COCKPIT ENCLOSURE panels, wheel and table covers. The substantial two-leaf fiberglass cockpit table with teak drink holders allows you to sit six for dinner al fresco. Hull is original factory white gel-coat which compounds and polishes nicely, protected by rub rails with stainless striker.
The extraordinarily stiff hull of the Freedom 40-40 provides stable motion through the seas, and her generous sail area makes her easily driven. David Pedrick, naval architect to Dennis Connor's 1995 America's Cup challenge, fulfilled every promise when he designed the 40-40 for Freedom Yachts; utilizing the most advanced building technologies, no part of Freedom's unique simplicity was compromised. As sophisticated as she is, the 40-40 is still effortless to sail. With all sheets, halyards, reefs, and control lines led aft, every sail function can be performed from the comfort and safety of the cockpit. Together, a couple can make passages aboard their 40-40 to the very limit of their imaginations' destination - with optimal safety. After all, a boat that's easier to control is a boat that's safer. Because the Freedom 40-40 allows every sailing function to be performed without ever leaving the cockpit, mishaps are less likely. In addition, the swim platform on the stern provides a step area that makes dinghy access safer and overboard retrievals a lot more sure. The companionway is the first indication that no detail is overlooked in this yacht's accommodations. From a seahood that's set into a deep aluminum track with flange and molding to prevent leakage, to the steps that cleverly conceal the dropboards, she's very well appointed. Hand-fit, matched cherry panels and trim define the open, well-ventilated main saloon (there are seven ports, with two opening and two fixed skylights). Two choices of interior are available. The Anniversary Edition Freedom 40 features a traditional navigation station, a fixed dining table with collapsing leaves, and a very practical seaberth outboard of the starboard settee; in addition, the forward bulkhead has been moved forward slightly to add even greater volume to the main saloon and the forward cabin has an offset double berth.
