The Island Packet 32’ features the highly successful Island Packet design concept that combines a modern full keel with handsome traditional styling, a versatile, easy managed rig, and an unusually spacious and livable interior. The modern full keel design, unique to the Island Packet line, provides the benefits of spirited, powerful performance, comparable to deeper fin keel designs, with added advantages of "hand-off" tacking and fingertip steering control, and superior sea-keeping and safety. And the moderate draft full keel gives the full capability for cruising as well as exploring shallow coastal waters.
All the proven attributes that have earned IPY an international reputation for excellence in cruising yacht design and quality, are embodied in the Island Packet 32, all within the spirited performance, exceptional seakeeping, inherent safety, ease of handling, and livability and detail refinement that have become industry benchmarks. Combined with classic good looks, exacting craftsmanship, and reliability and trouble-free service second to none, the IP32 is an unequaled choice for the knowledgeable cruising sailor.
With only 120 Island Packets produced, she is a highly sought after model, designed by Robert K. Johnson, and has been noted as “arguably one of the best mid-sized cruising boats ever built”.
The Island Packet 32 is specifically known for being well constructed, open and airy below, and above all, one of the largest 32' cruising sailboats on the market today. The Island Packet 32’ offers all the comforts you could desire in a cruising boat, packed into a solid, great sailing, shorthanded yacht, and has always maintained one of the best resale values on brokerage market.
Step aboard this 32-footer and there's no "bobbly" small boat sensation. At 12,900 pounds she sits solid in the water. The Island Packet 32’ displaces as much as many rival auxiliaries of her size. Her big boat feel and heavyweight status come from the way she's built. Her long keel may set her apart from the crowd, but rugged construction is another Island Packet hallmark.
This Island Packet 32’ is well maintained and most importantly, very attractively priced and ready to go cruising this winter! She is a pocket cruiser with much more elbow room than you would expect. She will take you just about anywhere you would want to go in comfort and safety and with surprising performance. The 32’ is the perfect family cruiser with room to sleep 7 people in accommodations with the forward cabin and main salon settees and the “crews” quarterberth.
Headroom is 6’2”, throughout the boat and storage capacity can only be noted as “incredible” for a pocket cruising yacht of this size. Beautiful teak joinery throughout and the glos6sy cabin sole is teak and holly.
She has a nice sized head with hot/cold pressure water, complete galley, and a fold-up table that is not crowding the saloon when not needed. Her cockpit is huge with room to sail, entertain or snooze the afternoon away. She is ready to take you to your favorite anchorage, or down the ICW to the paradise of the Bahamas and further.
On deck, the Island Packet 32’ features a wide bowsprit anchor platform, raised bulwarks, premium coarse molded in nonskid, full length cabin top hand rails, and double bow and stern rails with double lifelines for secure deck work. The roomy cockpit features deep coaming backrests, and rack and pinon geared wheel steering for precise feel and utmost reliability.

The spacious interior layout provided by the broad beam design offers an exceptional amount of room and livability. The forward cabin features a large V-berth with an overhead hatch, and port and starboard opening ports for a bright, comfortable and well ventilated private cabin. There is a privacy door to the main saloon as well as a private door to the head, accessible through the V-Berth area.
Full length teak shelves outboard, access to the chain locker most forward, cedar lined drawers and storage under the V-berth and a generous cedar lined hanging locker with shelf over to starboard. Also there is varnished teak & holly sole in this area.
Next to port is the head area with ensuite shower, shower curtain, vanity with oval S.S. sink, hot & cold pressure water, 2 doors (one from the forward cabin and one from the main saloon), a marine head with fold down teak seat for use with the shower, large unbreakable bulkhead mounted mirror with teak trim, storage under vanity and outboard of toilet, teak toilet paper holder, teak cup holder, GFI double outlet, opening port and overhead opening hatch. Directly across from the head is a cedar lined, full length hanging locker with louvered door for ventilation and shelf over.
The main saloon features a rather spacious area which sports a fold up table over a glass and bottle shelved storage area with the table also being able to fold down and open up for seating on both the port and starboard side. With the table in the “up” position, there is an unobstructed teak and holly sole almost 4’ wide The starboard settee has 2 lockers outboard with a fiddled bookshelf separating them and storage lockers behind seatbacks. There is a fold up table at the aft end of the settee, which allows for additional galley counter space or a great place to use your laptop when the navigator is using the chart table.
To port is an “L” shaped settee that converts to a double berth with 2 teak storage lockers outboard, separated by a fiddled bookshelf and storage behind the backrest cushions. There is an overhead opening hatch and 4 opening ports for excellent light and ventilation.
Generous tankage for both fuel and water are located below the sole, maximizing stowage behind and beneath the settees, minimizing trim changes with varying tank levels and adding to the overall stability of the yacht.
The “U” shaped galley features an amazing amount of storage for a yacht of this size with a large icebox with Frige-O-Matic Refrigeration system, 2-burner Hillerange with oven, S.S. safety bar & pan storage under, multiple counter top opening dry storage bins, 2-deep S.S. sinks with pressure water & pull out spray nozzle and large storage area under sinks and outboard of the Hillerange. There is a dish rack and “hide-away” trash bin and manual water pump.
Directly across from the galley and conveniently located at the base of the companionway, is the multi-purpose navigation station with a unique hinged nav table, multiple drawers & ships electrical and command center. A large nav station area is at the forward end of the berth with a hinged navigation table. The adjacent master electrical cabinet outboard offers storage space and an area for flush-mounted electronics. A slide-away navigation seat further enhances the use of available space in the aft cabin by providing a stand-up dressing area when the nav station is not in use. The deluxe electrical panel, complete with amp and voltage gauges, controls all shipboard DC and AC accessories. A graphic sail plan display with LED indicator bulbs provides quick visual reference to all exterior lighting.
Just aft is a “huge”, “crew quarterberth aft stateroom” featuring a large double berth and plenty of storage, outboard and under. The oversize quarter berth and aft cabin area is easily divided from the rest of the yacht by a privacy curtain on an overhead track. With the curtain open, the quarter berth area blends into the main salon contributing to it’s overall spacious feel. There are opening ports outboard and to the cockpit for ventilation and access to the on watch crew.
Interior wood is finished to convey a sense of warmth comfort & style and the teak and holly sole provided added elegance to the living areas, while a molded nonskid sole surface is used in the companionway, galley and nav station areas for sure-footing and ease of maintenance.
Walking up four solid teak, grooved for safety steps from the center entrance cockpit companionway, you will be in the spacious, comfortable and safe cockpit which features long contoured seats and deep backrests. The wide side decks and hand rails make on-deck work easy and safe.
