PRIVATEER – This 1990 Cape George 36 was built by Cape George Yachts in Port Townsend, WA. These traditional cruising cutters are world-renowned for their seaworthiness, superb ability under sail, rugged offshore capability, and extraordinary beauty. In 2022, Kristen Neuschafer, winner of the recently concluded single-handed Golden Globe race, chose the Cape George 36 to sail her safely to victory. She covered 30,390 nautical miles in 235 days. PRIVATEER is fast, seaworthy and sea kindly, meaning crew-friendly motion underway. She sails with most 40+ footers and turns out good daily mileage runs. The prior owner, Peter Frost of Pacific NW Expeditions (NWExpeditions.com) circled the globe for over 5 years on PRIVATEER. The current owner just returned from 8 months and over 5000 miles traveling the Caribbean. PRIVATEER was purchased in Canada in August 2017, motored through the Oswego and Erie canals to the Hudson, New York, and then north to Newburyport MA. She was on the hard until August of 2019 undergoing an extensive overhaul and installation of a new mast, boom, etc. She was repowered in 2020 with a new Yanmar Diesel 3JH 40 hp with 759 hours. See specs for the many new upgrades above and below decks. She sleeps 4, and the Galley features a 3-burner Dickinson stove & oven, with a double 8” deep sink with a large fridge and freezer port that doubles as a chart table and communications center. A 2020 survey is available upon request. This is an exceptional offering. Truly a MUST SEE!
Kristen Neuschafer, Skipper of the Cape George 36 named "Minnehaha" has been named the Winner of the Golden Globe Race around the world!! Congratulations! See the link below to read about her journey.

Kristen Neuschafer, winner of the recently concluded single-handed 2022 Golden Globe race, chose the Cape George 36 for the same reasons I did: Privateer is fast, seaworthy and sea kindly, meaning crew friendly motion underway. She sails with most 40+ footers and turns out good daily mileage runs. She can obviously be single-handed and is manageable by a crew of two for extended periods. PRIVATEER has the needed amenities without undue complexity. She is of a size that won’t break the bank, and presently ready to go to sea or explore coastal harbors. The extensive upgrades add incredible value to PRIVATEER. I’ll let the particulars speak for themselves.
