The NONSUCH 33 offers:SIMPLICITY, SAFETY, and STABILITY along with SPEED, COMFORT and RESALE VALUE all real advantages of a NONSUCH.
Simplicity; because a Nonsuch is easy to sail. Safety; because all sail handling is done from the cockpit. Stability; because the Nonsuch is designed with a powerful hull and an unstayed Aluminum rig. Speed; with 31' 6" waterline the boat is fast. Comfort; from interior space to cockpit space a Nonsuch provides the room that only boats many times larger can compare. Resale; excellent construction, an active owner association, a design that works ensures a continuing demand for Nonsuch boats. Talk with a Nonsuch owner....thank you for your time and consideration.
The interior of the Nonsuch 33 offers refinements, innovation and the privacy of it's three cabin configuration. Given the unparalleled acreage afforded by the beam, long-water lined Nonsuch hull; the tri-cabin plan in this 33-footer is not the shoehorn proposition that it might seem. Not many competitors, for instance begin with 6-foot 7-inch head room. The beam also let Ellis tuck the head well to starboard and open up the passageway forward.
The forward cabin is something quite close to a true stateroom. Even with full hanging locker and mirrored vanity, drawers under the bunk, and lockers above, the feel forward is still spacious.
The Ship's Head is large and well ventilated and has a deep oval sink. Raritan Manual Marine Toilet with Holding tank.
The aft stateroom is a touch smaller, but minus the hanging locker it offers the same privacy, solidity, elbow room, and live-in practicality.
The galley too, benefits from the room available. It's U-shape, has double sinks and more shelf and locker stowage the your average corner store. The hand pump in the icebox and the safety that keeps the cock on the right side of the Force 10 three-burner stove are typical of the lengths to which Hinterhoeller goes to set up the Nonsuch 33 for cruising.
The somewhat unlikely proposition that boats as big below as the Nonsuch 33 might also sail well has been more than proven true by the Nonsuch track record under sail.
"Despite their volume, the boats have quite clean lines and very little wetted surface, relatively speaking," says Mr. Ellis. "Combine that with a fin keel that has fine lift/drag qualities and an efficient single-sail rig that affords excellent power with good control, and you've got the elements of a fast sailing boat. No surprise at all."
A Balanced rudder is another effective element, and the uniformity of the boat's bean over her length tends to reduce helm and make her better able to carry sail in a breeze.
And Yes the boats goes to windward very well, just ask any owner.
