LION's SHADE has a generous Owner's cabin aft with the most popular arrangement; a Centerline, queen-sized berth. There are 6 opening portlights and 2 fixed portlights for light and ventilation. In the Port forward corner is the head compartment with toilet and sink and lockers; a stall shower with teak seat and tiled floor is in the corresponding corner to Starboard, each has an opening portlight. There is a hanging locker and many other lockers for storage. There are 8, triple dogged, opening Portlights in the Owner's cabin.
Up 2 steps and forward is the Pilothouse which is notable and characteristic of all Nauticats in design where one has level sightlines, seated or standing from all perspectives. Visibility is a critical, safety issue when conning a vessel from the Pilothouse helm; rare is the pilothouse boatbuilder who has accomplished this. The helm is Centerline with large chart table to Port and lots of chart storage beneath it..Electronics are sited here and instrumentation is arrayed in the eyebrow above. An L-shaped, converting settee is in the aft Port corner and a single settee opposite to Starboard.
There are Opening Pilothouse doors, Port & Starboard, a large Sliding hatch overhead and 2 opening portlights aft; plenty of light & ventilation.
Down 2 steps and forward is the main saloon with a large U-shaped berth and teak dinette table arranged to Port. Opposite is a large hanging locker and a fore aft arranged counter and lockers running down the Starboard side. at the forward end of this counter is a refrigerated ice box. Unlike other Nauticat 44s there are 6 NEW (2014)opening Portlights in the saloon/galley forward head area in addition to overhead hatches and dorades
Next forward is a U-shaped galley to Port opposite the forward, head compartment
