The cockpit on the Beneteau First 38 High Tension seats six adults comfortably. The owners had new teak installed on cockpit benches and bridge deck, which, combined with the folding teak cockpit table, provides a luxurious "yacht" feeling in the cockpit. Access to the water and stern boarding is very convenient via the walk-through transom. The cockpit is protected from sun and spray by a dodger, Bimini and connector. Moving down below, one is struck at once by the beautiful woodwork in the main salon, something not common on modern production sailboats. All interior cushions are in excellent condition having had the original foam replaced with high density foam. There is plenty of light and ventilation provided by overhead hatches and solar-powered vents. The original cabin portlights have been replaced with tinted acrylic, and are in excellent condition. A folding table and U-shaped seating area provides a dining area for six people. The long, wide settees double as additional berths. To port is the galley which features a newer Tasco 3-burner stove/oven, microwave and double stainless sink with H/C pressure water and there is also a foot pump for salt water washdown. The top-loading 12-volt electric refrigeration is also a newer custom-built unit. There is ample counter and storage space in the galley. The head is forward and to port and contains a Jabsco manual marine toilet, sink and vanity and hand-held shower head. A nice feature of this head system is the fact that hoses and Y-valve are easily accessible. To starboard aft is the forward-facing navigation station with a comfortable seating position and large opening table. The upgraded electrical panel and all instruments are well-placed and easily accessible. The sleeping accommodations are provided by a large V-berth and two private aft staterooms, as well as the settees in the main salon. The owners upgraded the V-berth mattress in the master cabin to a much thicker and more comfortable cushion. HIGH TENSION can sleep six very easily and has storage room and equipment for extended cruising. In all, the accommodations are comfortable and luxurious, especially considering that this is a very fast sailboat with a accomplished racing pedigree.

The owner states that the boat incurred some hull damage back in 1991 during Hurricane Bob which was repaired at that time to a "better than new" state. There is an expensive 3-bladed Max Prop on the boat now that the owner has promised to sell to a friend if the boat sells, but is open to including it depending on price negotiated. Otherwise. the original 2-blade folding prop will go with the boat. The owner removed the second head which was aft in front of the motor and uses that area for storage. The winter cover on the boat now is one of the best I've seen in that it is high enough to make it easy to move around on deck but is also very strong and repels any snow due to arched shape. The boat has a really nice paint job and the bottom is in excellent shape, including the iron keel, which has been epoxy barrier coated. In case you can't tell by looking at the electrical equipment list, the owner is an electrician, so every system on this boat has been meticulously maintained and is in working order.
