Florida-based Gulfstar was one of the leading yacht builders throughout most of the 1970s and 80s, and the 48 foot motor yacht, with her planing hull, was their entry into the modern motor yacht market. This Robert Lazzara design was produced using what was state-of-the art construction techniques for the time, and the roomy interior (note 15' beam!) is well fit out in lavishly worked teak (note for example the intricately formed banister for the salon stairs).
This particular example has had over $90,000 spent on her over the past six years (including being Awlgripped from the rub rail up including new non skid decks) and shows BEAUTIFULLY! She's galley down with a dinette and is the three stateroom/three head configuration with the master stateroom aft (with centerline queen berth), and the boat has an ENORMOUS fully enclosed aft deck and flybridge.
Note low time on 390 hp Detroit Diesel 6-71TIs (these were an option over the standard 290 hp engines) with turbos and exhaust elbows replaced in 2015, recent (2016) isinglass, new batteries (2020), salon painted all the big windows pulled and rebedded (these two projects alone were about $15,000), the interior is amazingly spacious with 6'5 headroom throughout and really must be seen to be appreciated.
She's the only big Gulfstar for sale on the west coast at present and with recent major price reduction is VERY competitively priced by a motivated two boat owner.
Private stateroom with over/under singles and head with shower forward, next aft is down galley with dinette, up three steps to salon with steering station.
From salon, either up aft to enclosed deck or down aft to second and master staterooms. Aft deck is HUGE and fully enclosed with solid doors, rigid weather boards and glass side windows, up from aft deck to fully enclosed flybridge with L-shaped bench seating behind Pompanette helm seat..
Second stateroom is port off hallway leading aft to master stateroom which has centerline queen, ample storage and full head with tub.
Note 6'5 headroom throughout most of boat, plenty of light and a tremendous amount of usable space, salon was beautifully repainted in 2020 (this was an $8,000 job, and at the same time all the big salon windows were pulled, cleaned and reinstalled for another $11,000), LED lighting V berth, master cabin and head and galley.
Very large, functional U-shaped galley down with dinette. Hot/cold pressure water with twin stainless steel oversize sinks, four stage water filtration system, new Raritan 1700 series 20 gallon hot water heater (2021), full size over/under GE stainless steel refrigerator with ice maker, Galley Maid three burner electric stove with oven, built in GE Spacesaver microwave oven.
Vacuflush toilets in all three heads (installed 1992, fully serviced 2021 including new bellows and duck bills, new waste hoses on master head).
Splendide washer/dryer combo unit (2016), wine refrigerator on aft deck (2015).
Furuno GaAs Furuno 48 mile radar with repeater on flybridge (1999), Garmin GPS Map 225 color chartplotter with repeater on flybridge (1999), Telcor rudder angle indicator, Danforth Constellation compass.

110/220V AC / 12V DC. Fifty amp shore power service, 80 amp charger/inverter, six 6V batteries (2020).
Heavily laid up FRP hull with balsa cored sides and decks, load bearing aft deck hardtop. Note the vessel has been Awlgripped from the rubrail up including the aft deck hardtop and aft deck weather boards, salon windows and windshield pulled, cleaned up and rebedded.
Six mooring cleats, 45 lb CQR anchor with 200' galvanized chain rode, Ideal electric windlass.
Last hauled and bottom painted in 2016.
Twin 390 hp Detroit Diesel 7-71TI (turbocharged and intercooled) with Racor fuel filters and full instrumentation, great access in almost stand up engine room. Dripless stuffing boxes (1992), Bennett trim tabs, hydraulic steering.
Engines serviced in 2020, including rebuilding both raw water pumps and replacing all raw water cooling hoses/clamps as well as removing and cleaning oil and air coolers, both engine turbos and exhaust elbows replaced in 2015.
