1974 Jarvis Newman Friendship Sloop31ft

Solid hand-laid fiberglass 2-piece hull built by the Jarvis Newman Yard in Southwest Harbor, Maine.  She was then transported to Winter Harbor to builder Bruce Lanning, who completed the boat with a custom fiberglass-over-marine plywood and oak-framed deck assembly, launching in 1978. Deck beams on 14" centers, 3/4" marine plywood decks. She has a full keel with internal encapsulated lead ballast of 4800 lbs.  Varnished Iroko exterior trim. Her deck house and mast step were rebuilt by Rockport Marine in 2018 and 2019 respectively.  2021 rebuilt varnished main hatch cover. Dark green topsides (2021) and red bottom paint. Light gray and white painted decks with non-skid.

Westerbeke 4-60 diesel, 4-cylinders, 25 HP. Rebuilt in 2008 by Yankee Marine of Yarmouth, Maine. Fresh water cooled. 2:1 Hurth reduction gear. 2-blade bronze propeller on a 1" stainless steel shaft swinging a 16" x 12" LH 2-blade propeller.  Wet exhaust, full engine gauges.  Edson worm wheel steering. 

Mast, Boom, Gaff, and Staysail Club are all solid spruce, painted cream with white tips.12' laminated mahogany bowsprit.  All stored inside.

Sleeps 5 below. Aft of rope locker are two 6-ft. long vee berths forward with lockers below. Next aft starboard is 6-ft. settee/single berth hinged shelf and cushions with lockers below and shelves outboard. Next aft to starboard is a 6'7" double quarterberth in aft of cabin, storage below. 

Aft of vee berth to port is the galley with a well-insulated icebox, stainless steel sink with manual cold water, alcohol 2-burner stove, with numerous lockers and shelves.  A Shipmate No.211 wood stove is installed with copper stove pipe and Charlie Noble. The enclosed head aft to port with Jabsco manual toilet w/Y valve and holding tank, drawers and lockers outboard, and large storage locker aft. 

The cabin woodwork is varnished mahogany with a varnished spruce ceiling, and a varnished teak and holly sole.  6'1" headroom.  With two cabin top hatches, one bronze vent on Dorade box, five opening bronze ports, and two fixed ports, it is a well-lit and ventilated cabin with beautiful craftsmanship and details.

Up the companionway steps into the 8'10" long x 6'10" wide cockpit with cushioned seating for 6-8. The side decks are 1'7" wide.  Long handrails on each side of the cabin top. Navigation lights on boards mounted on mast shrouds. Traditional bronze deck hardware includes two winches for jib sheets. Custom gallows frame of bronze and mahogany for boom.
