The LM 27 is a popular choice for those looking to escape poor weather yet still enjoy helming on the tiller from the large aft cockpit. This example has interior and exterior steering in the spacious cockpit, fully battened mainsail with lazy jacks, furling headsail and asymmetric cruising chute.
"Zenta" in its last ownership underwent continuous and extensive refurbishment to all systems in that time to facilitate extended and unassisted cruising.
The fuel tanks give a range in excess of 700 nautical miles under engine.
Two separate water tanks and systems in the bow and stern can provide up to 30 man days.
The current owner has carried out a complete interior refit in 2021-22.
LM 27 built in 1973 by LM Glassfiber A/S to their own design. White GRP hull with styling stripe, superstructure and decks with non-slip surfaces. Long keel with encapsulated ballast. Wheel and tiller steering to keel hung rudder. Semi-enclosed wheelhouse with full cockpit cover.
The accommodation offers four berths in two cabins with 6' headroom. There is a V-berth forward with hatch to the foredeck and stowage under berths.
In the saloon to starboard there is a dinette table and seating for four which converts into a double berth with storage below. There is further storage in cave lockers along the hull.
In the saloon to port is the galley comprising gimballed stove, grill and oven, stainless steel sink with hot and cold pressurised water system plus separate gravity feed cold water, storage cupboards and cave lockers along the hull.
The separate heads compartment to port contains a Cassette toilet and washbasin with hot and cold pressurised water system and 12 volt bilge pump plus separate gravity feed cold water system.
Opposite the heads to starboard is a generous hanging locker with storage below.
Steps up to the semi-enclosed wheelhouse with captains chair, navigation station, wheel helm and autopilot to starboard. The first mates chair is opposite to port with self draining gas locker below.
A hatch in the wheel house roof provides good vision when close maneuvering or the ability to steer and control the engine whilst standing on the side deck with lines in hand when coming alongside or taking a buoy.
There is a cave locker beside each chair.
Benches to Starboard and Port in the cockpit which have folding sections to facilitate sheet handling are over 6ft long and have been used as passage berths as well as seating for 6 around a folding cockpit table.
There is storage below each bench with cave lockers behind.
The cockpit has full cover with furling sides so that the boat can be sailed in shelter.
There is a removable tiller.
Located under the cockpit is a 29hp, three cylinder, Nanni marinised Kubota diesel engine, 2005 It is seawater cooled, has single lever teleflex controls and electric start.
An Aquadrive isolates the fixed pitch 3-blade propeller from the engine and gearbox. The propeller shaft drives against a hull mounted plate. Consequently, vibration is not transferred either way and minimises wear and tear on the whole system.
2 x 12 volt house batteries charged via engine alternator and isolated by diodes.
1 X 12 volt start battery charged via engine alternator and isolated by diodes.
Each battery is isolated from the other two by a system of diodes unless specifically connected to assist the start battery or provide essential navigation equipment in an emergency by individual switching.
Similarly, the start battery may be switched to provide current for essential navigation systems in an emergency.
Fully rewired by the owner in 2005, every terminal and junction is coated in Vaseline. There are no corroded wires or terminals on Zenta.
Full 12 volt cabin lighting.
12 volt charging points in cockpit and saloon.
240 volt lead with three pin plug to calorifier.
