Kelly Houseboat History
Darling Marine a long-time marine company built commercial river vessels of all types and sizes well known for their strength and reliability. After a while they were approached by individuals who wanted custom built steel houseboats with the same qualities. So they started building those recreational vessels and named them Kelly Houseboats. The CAPTAIN JACK is one of many Kelly Houseboats built in the 1960's, 70's. Sometime after that they changed the name of the company to Darling Yachts who became a well known custom Yacht and Ship builder.
The CAPTAIN JACK is an excellent example of the design and workmanship for which the Darling family was well known.

Interior Layout
The Salon is in the main deck and features the lower station controls, a spacious seating area with a flat screen TV and Stereo. Moving aft is the fully equipped Galley with lots of storage space. Aft of the that is a work room with a large built-in work table and plenty of storage for tools and spare parts. From the work room there is easy access to the enclosed aft deck with sliding glass doors on both sides with access to the walkways.
There is an indoor set of stairs from the Salon to the flybridge. The flybridge control station has great 360 degree visibility and is climate controlled. The master bed room with an adjoining head is midships on the bridge with a terrific outside view. There is also another head located on this deck.
This is such an unusual and amazing boat it is difficult to describe the many unique features that it has. I gues the old phrase "You Have To see It To believe It" really describes the CAPTAIN JACK.
