In 1966 Frederick S. Ford (Naval Architect) was commissioned to design and build a fiberglass yawl for a previous client that would be of the highest quality, fast and comfortable as a family cruiser and that is exactly what he designed,. The boat was originally named Bolo.
Mr. Ford turned to Coburn and Sargent of Florida to build the boat. Bing Sargent had built six or seven of Ford's designs when he worked up in Southwest Harbor Maine before starting his own business with Coburn in Stuart, Florida. Coburn & Sargent laid the hull, deck and major components. As fiberglass construction of boats was still in it's infancy in 1966, C&S (as many others) overbuilt the structure. ,
The unfinished boat was then shipped to the H. Grebe Co yards in Chicago. The Grebe Company was known for building luxury yachts for the rich and famous After the boat was in the hands of the Grebe yard, The man who had commissioned the build ran into financial difficulties and Mr. Ford was left with the boat. He finished the boat and entered it in the Chicago to Mackinaw race, as a "shakedown cruise" with an inexperience crew, He was very pleased with all aspects of the boat and her performance.
Since that time, the boats has had several owner's and names; eventually sailing her way back to Florida. In 1975 the boat was purchased and delivered from Miami to Annapolis for her new owner where she sailed from until 1991 when the current owner bought her; named her "BULL'S EYE: and sailed her to New England. The current owner very reluctantly sold "BULL's EYE" in 2008. At which time the new owners installed new rigging sails and electronics. Four years later in 2012, BULL'S EYE" changed hands once again with the new owner made additional improvements and sailed BULL'S EYE" along the East Coast eventually settling in St. Simons Island, GA until 2016. When the current owner, finding his beloved BULL"S EYE" available, bought her again and brought her back to New England. In 2019 he delivered BULL'S EYE" to DUTCH WHARF a highly regarded hard in Branford, CT for a Major restoration (see details below).Only due to health reason is this CLASSIC, QUALITY, YAWL, BULL'S EYE", available for sale.
