Fantome is a carefully maintained example of the famous Hinckley B40. Fiberglass classic built in 1961, she has a full keel and centerboard. Rudder fully supported and protected by the keel. Propulsion by a diesel engine.
Hull is solid glass, stiffened by solid transverse floors & topside stiffeners, bulkheads & joinerwork tabbed to the hull interior. Deck is also solid glass. (no core used)
Varnish coatings are in good shape inside & out.
Hull to deck connection is made with an inside flange, connection is secured by stainless bolts. Seam between the ballast & hull is visible but tight, indicating good holding by the keel bolts.
Centerboard is housed in a fiberglass trunk with a bronze upper extension that houses the worm drive. Bronze tie rod is installed forward of the mast.
Teak rubrails with stainless steel chafe strips protect the topsides.
Cushions, canvas & sails all in good shape.
Aluminum masts, Oak booms in good shape.
Yanmar Diesel, exhaust elbow & riser recently changed. Max prop, dripless shaft seal.
Hot & cold pressurized water, pressurized salt water on deck. Sea frost refrigeration, Espar thermostatically controlled diesel forced air cabin heater.
4 6v batteries for the house, & a 12v start battery.
Blue Seas DC voltage monitor. Ideal 12 v anchor windlass.
