Russel Brothers was formed in Ontario in 1907 and moved to Owen Sound in 1936. The Fort Frances yard was sold to Cyril Maffey in 1939 and continued as Maffey Steel Boats until 1962. The yard was famous for its designs of small working tugs and produced many yard tugs for the Canadian Navy in World War II.
