1956 Huckins Fairform Flyer "Neptune"47ft

Fiberglass over wood hull.  AVONDALE CALLING was constructed using the standard Huckins practice of double diagonal planked Seipo mahogany over sawn-oak frames and a laminated oak keel.  The vessel's entire exterior has been overlaid with fiberglass and epoxy glass.  (NOTE: As is shown in the photos, the bottom is currently open for re-planking.) Fastenings are bronze; deck is cloth over plywood.

2003 twin 315HP freshwater cooled, 6 cylinder Yanmar diesel engines with only 1,050 hours as of October 2013.  ZF 2.54:1 transmissions, spare propellers.  Morse engine controls.  Cruising speed 25 knots, maximum speed 30 knots.

300 gal. fuel in aluminum, 150 gal. water in aluminum, 20-gal. plastic holding tank.

12V DC/12V AC electrical system with port and starboard 50-amp/250V AC shore hook-up, Northern Lights/Lugger 8kW genset, 4 AGM 4D batteries for house and engine, 1 genset battery, Sentry 30-amp automatic battery charger.

Sleeps 4, 2 in the master stateroom aft and 2 in the bow stateroom. The bow stateroom has built-in V-berths with built-in drawer storage beneath. Aft to port is the galley, which is equipped with Norcold refrigerator/freezer, Princess LPG 3-burner stove/oven with Seaward solenoid control, Emerson microwave, Black & Decker Toast-R-Oven/broiler, Black & Decker Spacemaker coffee maker, stainless steel sink, and Corian countertops.  Opposite to starboard at the enclosed head (both heads are Vacu-Flush with holding tank and overboard discharge) and stall shower.  Up a couple of steps aft is the salon.  There is a built-in settee to port and, to starboard, 2 cushioned chairs, a folding table, and built-in bookshelves. Up a couple of steps aft to the lower helm/bridge area, which is enclosed on both sides and aft with Isinglass. This area provides access to both side decks and the aft master stateroom, as well as engine-room access via the deck hatch. The master stateroom aft features a double berth to starboard, single to port, and en suite head with stall shower.

Reverse-cycle heat and air conditioning (3 units), sea strainers, Fireboy engine-room fire-suppression system, bilge blower, 4 automatic bilge pumps, Stromberg dual air horns with compressor, Tankwatch 4 holding-tank monitor, 2 propane tanks in aft deck locker, 2 cushioned Pompanette helm seats at both helms, bimini top, full side and aft enclosure at lower helm, bow canvas cover used for protection in slip, console covers at both helms, 10' 3" 1999 Caribe Rib with 9.9 Evinrude outboard and two 12V DC electric davits off stern, radar/signal mast that raises/lowers electrically, navigation/anchor lights, 2 windshield wipers, stainless steel bow rail, varnished teak grab rails on port and starboard sides, Marquipt boarding ladder (stored in engine room), docking lines, fenders, boathook.  Entertainment equipment in the salon:  Sony 10-disc CD changer, Sony AM/FM tuner CD player, Sony 13" color TV/VCR; in the master stateroom--Sony 21" color TV/VCR, Sony 3-disc CD changer, Sony amplifier, Sony dual-cassette deck.

Plans and estimates have been completed to provide the vessel with an entirely new bottom from the bootline down including replacement of all floors, frames, keel, stem, gussets, and two layers of  3/8” mahogany planking and will be again covered with two layers of 1208 fiberglass with G-Flex resin and will have fresh exterior paint and wiring upgrades.  When the work is completed, AVONDALE CALLING will be a completely restored boat.

AVONDALE CALLING  - rare opportunity to purchase a classic, historically significant yacht at a fraction of her restored value.  With 3/4 of her restoration complete, the yacht is now available in "as is/where is" condition. Plans and estimates have already been prepared to finish the work, and will be supplied to the purchaser.
