Fiberglass over wood hull. AVONDALE CALLING was constructed using the standard Huckins practice of double diagonal planked Seipo mahogany over sawn-oak frames and a laminated oak keel. The vessel's entire exterior has been overlaid with fiberglass and epoxy glass. (NOTE: As is shown in the photos, the bottom is currently open for re-planking.) Fastenings are bronze; deck is cloth over plywood.

Sleeps 4, 2 in the master stateroom aft and 2 in the bow stateroom. The bow stateroom has built-in V-berths with built-in drawer storage beneath. Aft to port is the galley, which is equipped with Norcold refrigerator/freezer, Princess LPG 3-burner stove/oven with Seaward solenoid control, Emerson microwave, Black & Decker Toast-R-Oven/broiler, Black & Decker Spacemaker coffee maker, stainless steel sink, and Corian countertops. Opposite to starboard at the enclosed head (both heads are Vacu-Flush with holding tank and overboard discharge) and stall shower. Up a couple of steps aft is the salon. There is a built-in settee to port and, to starboard, 2 cushioned chairs, a folding table, and built-in bookshelves. Up a couple of steps aft to the lower helm/bridge area, which is enclosed on both sides and aft with Isinglass. This area provides access to both side decks and the aft master stateroom, as well as engine-room access via the deck hatch. The master stateroom aft features a double berth to starboard, single to port, and en suite head with stall shower.

Plans and estimates have been completed to provide the vessel with an entirely new bottom from the bootline down including replacement of all floors, frames, keel, stem, gussets, and two layers of 3/8” mahogany planking and will be again covered with two layers of 1208 fiberglass with G-Flex resin and will have fresh exterior paint and wiring upgrades. When the work is completed, AVONDALE CALLING will be a completely restored boat.
