Insignificant facts and comparisons:
England found itself in desparate need of a multi-purpose combat aircraft in the early stages of WWII. To the surprise of the air craft industry, the de Havilland Aircraft engineering department developed and built a twin engine aircraft constructed almost entirely of wood, including wings and fuselage made from glued up birch and balsa wood. Power was supplied by a pair of Rolls Royce Merlin engines that could wisk this true marvel up to and over 400 mph!!! It was called the DH-40 Mosquito.
Thirteen years later, the popular and proven Chris Craft boat manufacturing company offered to the boating community a "build it yourself" 17' plywood speed boat that they would provide as a semi-finished hull or a complete kit.
Wishing Well does have a relationship with the Mosquito since it is constructed using wood frames and a plywood hull and like the DH-90 can go like a streak since this one is powered , not by a Rolls Royce Merlin, but a proven In America made GM 350 Corvette engine.
HURRY< HURRY--NOT MANY LEFT!!
Wishing Well is one of the 1000 17' speed boat kit boats made available by Chris Craft in the mid 1950s. This is an estate sale and little is known when it was assembled or the exact age of the Corvette-powered engine.
A close inspection will verify that the construction and overall finish was completed by a professional boat builder.
The engine has a four barrel carberator, an aluminum Ekldebrook intake manifold with evidence that the block was drained prior to storage. Overall appearance, including the upholstery, bilge, hull condition, brite work, and custom trailer is exceptional.
