West Coast Yachting has been the leading independent broker in the Argyll area of Scotland since 2009, successfully selling yachts on behalf of our continuously growing list of clients

Our service is built round attention to detail and knowledge of your yacht - with considerable marine industry experience we know what we're looking at and will always advise accordingly. We share our passion for sailing and the West of Scotland with our buyers who often travel significant distances to view our boats, and this familiarity with the area means we are best placed to advise on a marketing approach to sellers wherever their yacht is based.

All yachts are personally visited and photographed prior to listing. We are associate members of ABYA and as such abide by their Code of Pratice, and use ABYA standard contracts and documentation which we believe provide the best possible legal protection for buyer and seller alike. All funds are transferred via a bank-protected Client Account at Lloyds TSB, and we carry both Marine Trades and Professional Indemnity insurance with full Public Liability cover.

Whether you're buying your first boat, selling your last, or at any stage in between, we are here to help you make it happen.

Samara surely has to represent the "holy grail" for classic motor yacht enthusiasts: a vessel in the same ownership from new, in fine, well maintained and up-and running condition, with all her original machinery and fittings. Purchased new by the current owner's father in 1949 - stepping aboard she really does feel like a treasured family heirloom, but now sadly she must be offered to the open market.

Built at the famous James A Silver yard at Rosneath on the Clyde, and designed by John Bain who undoubtedly had an eye to perfect this type of vessel. Only the best of materials were used and the quality of construction has stood the test of time. These boats were built for very discerning customers, and they are still afforded great respect around the world today - they are their owner's pride and joy.

Although Samara has had continuous, good quality maintenance throughout her life, she now requires a little more than the owner wishes to attend to. Such is her originality, however, that new new owner should plan any renovations very carefully and we feel that modernisation should be kept to a minimum. E.g. the engines are not powerful by today's standards, but we can't see changing them as anything other than sacrilege! That said, many modern systems can be fitted to these old boats very discretely with little or no loss of character.

All in all Samara is a wonderful object, surely of great interest to anyone who appreciates the qualities of a bygone era. The new owner will be buying something truly unique, because 55-year-old boats this well looked after that are totally original are incredibly rare nowadays.

Early viewing is highly recommended - afloat through the season West Scotland, and stored inside throughout the winter months (as she always has been). Please call or email to make an appointment.
