As a buyer, there is nothing more absolutely frustrating while shopping for a boat than to be told over the phone by a broker (or seller) about the condition of a boat being in a certain condition, making expensive travel plans and going to significant lengths to view the prospective boat, ONLY to find out it is not at all as you had been assured over the phone. That "bristol" condition boat you were told about, upon your personal inspection, appears to be barely floating. It's happened to me personally more times than I'd like to count.
As a seller, there is nothing worse than hiring a yacht broker in hopes that they actually lend a high level of expertise when it comes to sales, marketing, negotiations, handling logistics, and actually working as hard towards selling your boat as if it were their own, only to find out you are NOT getting such service. Adding insult to injury, why hire a broker if they cannot provide you with strong analytical skills to show you were the market is really at when it comes to pricing in today's turbulent times? We will tell you up front what the real value of your vessel is in today's market. We won't sugar coat it- we'll tell you the truth. We won't inflate prices just to get a listing, knowing it will never sell.
Honesty and integrity are more than just good business practice. The "Golden Rule" applies in our personal and professional lives! We take our role as broker very serious and strive to convey the most comprehensive and accurate information we can about each listing. If it is a project boat, we'll tell you that before you come out to see it. If it is a spotlessly clean vessel, we will tell you that as well. So that you might know a little better about how we handle ourselves in business, here is what some of my past clients have had to say about their yacht brokerage experiences with me:
"We found an excellent broker, Tony Eyl. If you're selling I highly recommend contacting Tony. Even though his office was 800 miles from our area his promotion resulted in the most interested buyers. I was also impressed with his ability to support the buyers throughout all the questions and second thoughts they often have." -A.C., seller of 2004 Monk 36 in NJ to buyer in NY. "We thought we had a done deal on a boat listed with another firm until the seller backed out. Our buyers were devastated. The buyers had been looking for a certain model boat and that model only. We searched until we found Tony’s listing through Watermark. The professional interaction as well as the amount of time that went into the listing (many, many pictures and beautiful description) assured us that this would be someone we wanted to deal with. Our customers came all the way from CT to TN on our recommendation. The deal went seamlessly. Our customers are thrilled with the yacht of their dreams, as accurately described and perfectly represented. We would recommend Tony Eyl and Watermark to any broker looking for that “Dream Boat”. Marianna Belz, Partner, US Boat Sales,LLC New Jersey
"My name is Ron, previous owner of a 52 ft. Jefferson in Chattanooga, Tn. Several years ago I decided to sell Rainbow Chaser and listed her with the (then) broker at Island Cove Marina. Over the next two years the boat was shown a total of one time. I then listed her with another broker with the same results. Next broker...same. Then I met Tony Eyl, who impressed me from day one. Tony laid out his plan to market the boat, inspected her until he knew as much about her as I did and took many many pictures and videos. Tony then researched the boat and met with me to arrive at a reasonable set of price expectations. Long story short, yesterday we closed on the sale. In just a few months Tony succeeded where all others had failed. His marketing approach generated numerous inquiries over a very short time frame. He weeded out the tire kickers and wannabes and brought qualified potential buyers aboard (I think one of the previous brokers had his brother look at the boat so he could tell me that it was being shown). Not only did Tony sell Rainbow Chaser, he sold her at the top of the price range in a very difficult market. He also assisted the buyer in plans to transport the boat and locate a delivery captain. Tony did a great job. The fact that he succeded where a host of other brokers had failed had nothing to do with luck. It had to do with a professional working hard at his trade. Your approach to the marketplace, your attention to detail, your abiliy to cope with a strange brew of personalities (including mine) and the energy which you bring to your work all let me be a bit casual about the sale of Rainbow Chaser...I knew from day one that the whole process was in good hands. On rare occasion in my business career I have met a business person who I knew immediately was real to the core...a home run. Thanks for the home run." -Ron P., Chattanooga, TN (Seller of Jefferson 52).
"Tony Eyl made the process of buying my first boat a very pleasant and enjoyable one. He truly exceeded my expectations of what I thought a broker would do for me. Tony helped in every aspect, from initial inspection, right down to the boat's final move. Being my first boat I was pretty excited and Tony always fielded all of my (very numerous) questions with equal excitement, almost as though he was buying the boat himself! The bottom line is, I would definitely do business with Tony again and also consider him a friend. Overall, a great experience. Thanks again Tony." Nick A., Nashville, TN (Buyer of restored classic Chris Craft out of Chattanooga and shipped to Nashville).
"Thanks to Tony, my family made our first boat purchase and would do it all again! I was very relieved to find that Tony had our interests at heart, and that he wanted us to enjoy the process that was so new to us. We love our 30' Cruisers Yacht, and have Tony to thank for going the extra mile on a great deal."
-Sam K., Atlanta, GA (Buyer of Cruisers 3075 Express in Chattanooga and shipped to Atlanta)
"Thanks for all your help with the boat and all the information that you have given us. Will be glad to tell everyone that I know that is looking for a boat to call you. Life can not get much better then owning this boat and dealing with such a great salesman as yourself. Thanks again and let us know if your ever down in this area so we can take you out.

"Tony Eyl is a passionate boater. That passion brought me to the realization that I wanted his help in finding the perfect boat for me and my family (and he did!). I was not a fan of boat brokers until I came across Tony. He took the time to find out what I was looking for and how I intended to use the boat. His knowledge of the boats he showed me was as extensive as the owners knowledge. Tony breaks the mold when it comes to buying or selling a boat. My entire experience dealing with him was awesome. I find myself calling him after the transaction was complete just picking his brain. I know that I have found an important tool in my boating tool box. That tool is Tony Eyl!"
Robbie W. (Buyer of a 2000 Carver 406, Atlanta, GA)
"Tony, thanks for the great job you did in selling my boat. You made the process so easy for me by handling all of the paperwork and the finances. I will send all of my boat friends to you and if I ever sell my new boat, you will be the first person I call. Thanks again."
- Neal E.
Savannah,GA (seller of Regal express cruiser in Savannah to buyer out of Tennessee)
"To anyone considering selling your boat, do yourself a favor and talk to Tony Eyl before you do. For me it was so refreshing to talk to a broker that actually knows boating and could market our vessel the way it deserved to be marketed in order to sell! It didn't sit for months and months with no showings or just tire-kickers. Tony worked with us on the ability to price the boat right and put it out there in front of the right potential buyers. And the potential buyers he brought in were just that....buyers. If you want someone to take your listing and give you a bunch of promises that you find in 6 months never pan out, fine. If you want a true boater as your broker to realistically evaluate the market for your boat, and then get that vessel in front of buyers with an aggressive and impressive marketing plan, then Tony is the broker you need to meet. We've now bought/sold five boats and I can assure you that each successive purchase and sale from now on will be with Tony's help."

"Tony helped us negotiate a great price on our new boat. He also aggressively marketed and sold our old boat, minimizing our time as two boat owner. We found Tony to be very professional and highly recommend his services."

"Tony Eyl does it again. Thanks to Tony I am now boatless. It doesn't feel nearly as good as I thought it would...For anyone looking for a good, honest and knowledgeable boat broker, Tony can't be beat. I can't recommend him enough! Thanks again Tony!"
