Lucky, a solo racer, was designed for the owner by Dick Newick in 1985. Original construction drawings are available and remain with the vessel. Her hulls were built by Alain Guidon and finished in Glen Arbor, Michigan. She was launched in Good Harbor Bay on Lake Michigan in 1987. Her Gougeon Brothers designed wing mast, windshield, deck hardware and systems where completed by VanDam Woodcraft in Harbor Springs, Michigan. Her Launch took place in June of 1987.

Lucky was born and raised on the Great Lakes and is a one owner boat. She has been well maintained, and improved upon over the years, and has a fine race record. In 2014 alone she was 1st in class in both the Chicago and Bayview Mackinac races. She corrected 1st in class in the Bayview race and 2nd in the Chicago race. She has won the Marty Reick Trophy three times and the Super Mac and many other races over the years both crewed and solo.

She completed the ARC Caribbean 1500 in 2015, and has competed in the Caribbean 600 twice, 4th multihull to finish in 2016 and 3rd in 2017 behind Phaedo and Maserati (Mod 70 trimarans). She winters in English Harbor, Antigua.

Upgrades in 2013 included a new cockpit & aft beam. Then over this past winter (2013-14) she was repowered with a new Yanmar 30HP sail drive (425hrs), a new North 3DI mainsail and a 3DI 100% self-tacking jib, repainting with Awlgrip plus the application of a new Hydro Turf soft deck.
