Welcome to The Fog Warning

The Fog Warning image What makes a yacht great, and why?

Who makes a great yacht, and how?

My name is Dave Mallach, and The Fog Warning springs from my lifelong obsession with these eternal questions, and from my involvement with the design, construction and sale of fine yachts. I’m honored to be your resource for all things yachting.

Much of what I’ve learned comes from my experiences in selling more than $40 million of classic downeast designs, like those built by Vicem, Hinckley, and Reliant Yachts.

These builds have created a strong foundation, one that has now led me to representing three of the finest yacht builders in Holland, and the world - Zeelander, Hartman, Enkhuizen [Sossego] and Long Island Yachts.

These four lines, ranging in size from from 25 feet to 50 meters, allows to meet the widest range of my client's needs for yachts of beauty, performance, and uncompromising engineering. You can learn a great deal about these fine yachts by reading The Fog Warning blog, to the left.

I am also pleased to cover the waterfront, so to speak, for quality yachts of any style, from sportfish to mega-yachts to sailing catamarans. So if I can help find you a fine yacht that meets your schemes and dreams – Whether custom, production, or brokerage – just launch a flare!

Thanks, and enjoy!

**** January 2019 Update ****

Mahogany Rose has just had a $350,000 price reduction, to $1,050,000. This 25% reduction includes a new paint job and new exterior cushions, schedule for this spring. A prompt contract can ensure a buyer's personal color choice. Questions? Jut launch a flare!

Vicem Yachts's downeast designs are prized the world over. Their 67 to 75 foot flybridge models are particularly famous for their perfect balance of elegance, performance, and accommodations. They have been Vicem's top sellers since their very first splash.

Mahogany Rose offers three large cabins, plus a crew cabin for two (although she has always been  owner-operated). No expense was spared in the design and construction of this fine yacht. She was the second Vicem built for her knowledgable owner, who now plans to move down in size. His use of this fine yacht has averaged just 100 hours per season, since new, and she has had her MAN 1,000 hr service.

Her most notable accomplishments include:

  • A brilliantly conceived and executed convertible office, built around a folding, Murphy-bed style executive desk
  • A fully extended flybridge with a full sun/rain/insect enclosure for the cockpit below
  • An air-conditoned engine room
  • Oversized bow and stern thrusters (spec'd for an 85' yacht)
  • A uniquely attractive mix of high gloss and satin varnish below decks, with custom inlayed teak and holly floors.
  • A Yacht Controller remote control
  • A massively overbuilt twin anchoring system
  • An innovative rotating radar mast allowing full Great Loop accessibility

Mahogany Rose lives in Charleston, and can be seen at any time. Please call me for all details.
