Lone Fox is a true gentlemen’s yacht. Designed for Colonel Whitbread, original sponsor of the ‘Whitbread Around the World Race’, the 65’ Robert Clark teak ketch is known internationally for its speed and grace. Launched on the shores of Scotland in1957, Lone Fox was constructed to Lloyds Class +100A1 Yacht Specifications. She was the Colonel’s personal yacht until his passing in 1983.  After an interesting and illustrious journey she found herself in Ventura CA to have a significant master craftsman refit in the mid to late 1990’s. This work brought the boat back to its original glory and inspired a racing campaign along the west coast of the United States and the Caribbean. In the early 2000’s Lone Fox sailed to St. Barth’s, its home for the next 15 years.  She continued to race and win multiple Classic regattas, as well as serve as an excellent day and term charter boat for true sailing connoisseurs.

Selected Regatta Results:

Overall Winner: 2000 and 2001 San Francisco Master Mariner’s Regatta

First in Class: 2005 St. Barth’s New Years Regatta

Overall Winner: 2008 and 2009 St Maarten/St Martin Classic Yacht Regatta

First in Class: 2008 Antigua Classics Yacht Regatta

Overall Winner: 2011 Antigua Classics Yacht Regatta

Panerai Trophy: 2012 Antigua Classics Yacht Regatta

Lone Fox’s original teak decks need to be replaced.  The current owner is keeping the boat at Rockport Marine for ease of access to both sailing and the professional day-to-day care of a classic sailing yacht.  This move in 2017 has provided RMI shipwrights access to the boat who in the last year have established a deeper understanding of Lone Fox’s systems and an appreciation of its exceptional structural integrity. Lone Fox’s pedigree and world-renowned reputation make this a unique opportunity for a sailor seeking an iconic classic yacht.
