Welcome to Lawson Yachts

Lawson Yachts LLC image Located in Hingham, Massachusetts, half an hour southeast of Boston, Lawson Yachts has been in business since 1982. Yacht brokerage is our sole focus, and we sell both sail and power boats, specializing in high quality, traditional cruising sailboats. Broker John Procter, a Certified Professional Yacht Broker (see sidebar), has over 30 years of experience in yacht sales and brokerage. John is a seasoned sailor and boat owner with a broad knowledge of yacht designs and market conditions.

As long-time members of the Yacht Brokers Association of America we are active participants in the organization and have served on the board, including John's two terms as President. We take very seriously the high ethical standards and practices that YBAA promotes in the yacht brokerage business and put them to use on a daily basis. We believe that conducting ourselves in an honest, straightforward manner, representing both buyers and sellers fairly, and paying close attention to detail as we oversee purchases from offer to closing are the only ways to do business. Our hundreds of loyal clients seem to agree.

Let us know what you are looking for and, if we don't have it ourselves, we will find it for you using our extensive contacts in the yacht brokerage industry and our computerized MLS system. We are always looking for new listings on good quality yachts, so if you have a quality sailboat, powerboat, trawler, or motoryacht for sale, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss a marketing plan with you.

Thank you for visiting our site. We look forward to assisting you in buying your next boat or selling your current one!

35' Pearson 35
1981 US$ 24,900

"The Pearson 35 was one of our most successful. It was in production for 14 years, which was quite a record. We never approached that again. Most designs would last five years or so."

-- Bill Shaw, Pearson Yachts

The Pearson 35 enjoyed extraordinary success with a build run from 1968 through 1981. Over 500 Pearson 35's were constructed, most still in use. Substantially built, they offered a huge cockpit (9' 5" long!), a forward cabin large enough and with enough headroom to actually get dressed. The main cabin is bright, airy, and comfortable. The Pearson 35 has a long full keel with centerboard which provides shoal draft, making it possible to venture into places much smaller boats would hesitate going. Demand for the Pearson 35 continues with an active and competitive resale market for well-maintained vessels.

CAVU is hull #506 of 515 built. She's in excellent cosmetic and structural shape and is truly a fine example, one of the better ones.  Her owner points out:

  •   Very good original condition
  •   Rebuilt Universal diesel
  •   New fuel tank
  •   New transmission, shaft and cutlass bearing
  •   Doyle StackPack with lazy jacks and TidesTrack slide system
  •   Doyle 120 on Schaefer furler
  •   Garmin GPS Map 740, VHF 200 and GMI depth display all on NMEA bus
  •   New toilet and hoses to 35 gal holding tank
  •   New standing rigging (shrouds and backstage)
  •   New lifelines
  •   Rebuilt cockpit sole and Edson steering
  •   New centerboard cable
  •   New dodger and fly
  •   New anchor gear
  •   Fairclough custom winter cover with frame

Under her current owner's care, she's benefitted from a rigorous maintenance program and a number of upgrades, including a new 120% genoa (the other sails were new in 2012), a rebuilt engine, new transmission (still under warranty), replacement of most standing rigging, new custom canvas Fairclough winter cover with metal frame, new dodger and cockpit awning, new head plumbing, custom folding dining table and bookshelves, and LED spreader and interior lights.

CAVU completed a cruise last summer extending from Massachusetts to the Chesapeake, exploring the Hudson River and NY canal system along the way.  She's now on the hard in Marion, MA.  Her custom Fairclough canvas cover has just been removed, so she's easily inspectable.

Price reduced on 6/13/2018 from $25,500 to $24,900. CAVU represents great value and won't disappoint. Call to schedule a visit to see this fine yacht!
