As the first Oyster design by Rob Humphreys in this size range, the 46 represented a move towards a more powerful hull
shape, with longer waterline and broader sections aft. This improved form stability, and sailing performance, especially down
wind, whilst her increased sail area helps to return enough sensitivity, even in lighter airs, to make her a real sailors yacht.
Good headroom throughout and a spacious three cabin layout sleeps six in comfort, with an additional two sea berths possible
in the saloon. The owner’s stateroom enjoys an en-suite head shower, while the forward double and twin cabins share
an additional head/shower, which becomes the day head underway. The 46 was an immediate success, twenty-nine were
launched between 2005 and 2012, when she was updated to become the new Oyster 475.
This is a beautiful and virtually unused late Oyster 46, with less than 600 engine hours. The next owner will purchase a wonderful
example, almost as new below decks with unmarked maple joinery and traditional teak sole boards. She sleeps six in
three comfortable cabins.
Sloop rigged with single line reefing to the mainsail and electric winches making her easy to handle. Bow thruster, air conditioning,
holding tank, freezer and recently upgraded electronics feature on her sensible inventory.

FORWARD SHARED HEAD/SHOWER
The two forward cabins share the forward head compartment to starboard, incorporating a Jabsco manual toilet, washbasin and separate shower stall with curtain.

Access to the saloon from the companionway is via a set of removable timber steps fitted with timber grab rails. The deck saloon is extremely light and airy with seven windows, the forward outboard pair of which open. An opening hullport each side allows visual contact with the outside whilst seated and contributes to the great feeling of space and light in the saloon.
Featuring an L-shaped settee area and table to port, and two-seater settee to starboard. The saloon table is designed to form, when in its closed position, an occasional table, which is mounted on a substantial pedestal base incorporating wine bottle stowage.
The table has a matching fold over leaf, which opens onto a removable strut to allow both sides of the saloon to be used for seating while dining.
Incorporated into the accommodation are a number of grab rails, including one on the
inboard fore and aft edge of the saloon tabletop.
The port settee forms a useful sea berth when used with the lee cloth provided. Stowage for glasses in locker forward of the starboard side settee.
Situated at the aft starboard end of the saloon, the forward facing chart table is customised around the electronics and navigational equipment, which is strategically sited and flush-mounted in a dark grey Alcantara fascia.
The chart table has a hinged lid with stainless steel stay, and drawer beneath.

The engine is located centrally, under the cockpit galley sinks, and the compartment is insulated with a composite of foam and high-density polymer sound absorbing materials. Access for inspection and maintenance is via two large hinged doors to starboard, one inboard of the chart table and another inboard of the owner’s head compartment. In addition, to port there is a removable panel beneath the galley sinks.
Doors and panels are fitted with rubber sealing strips to minimise noise and secured by flush-fitting closers with fold-down handles.

TANK TENDER GAUGES
Fuel and water tanks are fitted with Tank Tender contents gauges. Backup dipsticks and calibration charts.
From an insulated approximately 650 litres (143 Imp gallons/172 US gallons) tank heated by the engine’s heat exchanger, or by thermostatically-controlled 220V, 1.25kW immersion heater element powered by the generator or dockside power. A thermostatic safety blender valve is fitted.
PRESSURISED HOT AND COLD FRESHWATER SYSTEM
Based on a Par CW335A Twin Max pump with pressure accumulator tank system, and PEX/PBT pipework and fittings.
Plastic (polyethylene) gravity discharge holding tanks fitted to the forward and aft heads. Deck pump out. Wema electric capacity gauges.
Each head compartment is fitted with an electric Whale Gulper pump operated by a waterproof rocker switch, and evacuates water from the washbasins and showers directly overboard.
The galley sinks discharge with an electric Whale Gulper pump, operated by a Vimar
220V AC ring main with five double, 13A sockets located as appropriate within the layout. Units are from the Vimar ‘Idea’ range with chrome ‘Classica’ surrounds.
