The J Boats J/109 is a fantastic cruiser/racer with a well established one design class featuring a retractable bowsprit and asymmetric spinnaker system as well as a 2-cabin interior layout with standing headroom. She is designed with a long waterline and generous sail plan giving the speed for competitive racing and stability for relaxed cruising.
There is a popular one-design regatta circuit in the UK and Ireland, with an active and inclusive class. The boats race on a level rating basis at Cowes Week, Cork Week, Dun Laoghaire regatta and at a number of other Class events throughout the year.
Wakey Wakey is a late model of the J/109 class, she is presented in excellent condition. With only 2 owners from new. The current owners purchased the boat in 2014, having only been cruised by the first owners. Since 2014 Wakey Wakey has mostly been cruised as well as some coastal racing, Round Ireland Race and 2 Fastnet races. She has been maintained very well, deep cleaned and polished yearly.
All the Raymarine instrumentation including autopilot and chart plotter were replaced in 2016. The mast and rigging were also replaced in 2016. She currently (as of 12/2019) has 461 hours on the engine, which has been serviced diligently every 6 months. The saildrive was inspected and the seal replaced in 2016, as well as replacing the prop. Included in the inventory is full Cat 2 compliant safety gear; with an in date serviced life raft.
As well as class racing, the J/109 performs well under IRC with Wakey Wakey rated at 1.009. Allowing this model to be competitive in a range of racing events!
This is one of the best condition and highly spec'd J/109's to come onto the second hand market. Currently afloat in a marina near the heart of Dublin, approximately 20 minutes from Dublin Airport. Available to view by appointment.
