TIME is a “pocket cruiser” in the truest sense of the term.  A perfect combination of manageable size and considerable capacity.  She can be easily trailered and parked in the backyard, and yet cruise offshore in relative comfort with her cozy cabin and inboard diesel engine.

Having been built new in 2008 by the Rockland Apprenticeshop in Rockland, Maine, TIME remains in “as new” structural condition.  The Blue Moon Yawl was designed by Thomas Gilmer, who also designed the Pride of Baltimore, Pride of Baltimore II and the Kalmar Nyckel.

For a full description of the story behind her construction, please see the article from Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors (2009:106) Link attached.

Built of cedar plank on steam bent oak frames, she is 23′ on deck and 30′ overall. She displaces approximately 8,000 lbs. Her teak decks, bright coachwork and bronze fittings are of quality and beauty. Her tanbark sails, made by Gambell and Hunter of Camden, Maine, are in excellent condition, and include gaff rigged main, club staysail, roller furling jib, topsail and mizzen. She has a Yanmar 2YM15 14 hp diesel engine with low hours. “TIME” has just had her topsides painted and bright work fully refinished. Electronics include VHF, Garmin GPS, depth sounder and compass.

In 2012 TIME was awarded 1st Place for Professionally Built Sailboat in the 21st annual WoodenBoat Show in Mystic, CT.  She is currently rigged and sailing in Rock Hall, Maryland.

Excerpt From Maine Boats, Homes and Harbors article:

“Time is seaworthy and tough . . . The design, called Blue Moon, is by naval architect, Thomas Gilmer, perhaps best known as the designer of Apogee, the first fiberglass boat to circumnavigate the globe. 'Blue Moon’ was inspired by the oyster boats of the Falmouth Estuary. These boats were all weather boats, very handy under sail, averaging 23 to 25 feet between graceful transoms and plumb stems, and could drive to windward under short sail in a nasty chop.”

Quote from a former owner after his first voyage on TIME in 2012 from Maine to Connecticut:

“Our first destination was Provincetown, MA, with a course set Offshore, clear across the Gulf of Maine. Not a voyage I would recommend for most 23' sailboats, though "TIME" is not a typical 23' sailboat. After 37 hours sailing offshore with high winds and large following seas, cold and exhausted we reached Provincetown Harbor at 3:00 AM. During the entire voyage, TIME performed as a stoutly built little ship.”
