Sails and Rigging
The Catalina 440 sail plan was designed as an in boom furling system for ease of handling. This gives you the ability to truly shorten the main sail and lower the center of effort, as well as superior sailing performance that other in-mast furling systems can not possibly match.
A two speed electric winch is located so that all mast lines are led aft to it including the traveler controls. There are nine sheet stoppers installed for convenience.
The mast is tapered with anodized double spreaders, fore and aft lowers, in-line uppers, and intermediates. It is a deck stepped mast with compression post.
Two (2) Harken 60ST Chrome over Bronze, Two Speed Self tailing sheet winches
Harken 44ST 12VDC Central electric winch for all halyards
Roller Bearing Garauer Mainsheet traveler w/cars and multipurpose adjuster system led aft
Leisure Furl Main Sail Boom Furling System. Extremely easy to use, bullet proof, and suitable for offshore cruising. Gives you the full main sail shape unlike mast furlng. Maintains sail shape of main when reefing. Lowers center of effort on main sail unlike main sail furling. Easy to maintain.
