SOUTHERN WAY Is one of the most highly customized Nordlunds ever built. This is the owners second build at Nordlund and it's now on the market for the first time. The main salon is accessed through an electronic door on the California deck. The salon furnishings consists of 2 sofas and 2 lounge chairs. The interior finish is maple with Birdseye maple accents. The entertainment center is located between the salon and dining room where a 50” TV rises from the entertainment cabinet. The cabinet houses all the entertainment system throughout the boat which was completely redone with all new components in June of 2017 at a cost of over $125,000.
The dining room sits just forward of the salon and has a (6) person formal dining room table. The dining room wood is Walnut with maple accents. There is a full size, climate controlled built in wine cellar in corner of the dining room. There is also a TV that rises from a cabinet in the entertainment center.
The Galley is located just forward of the dining room. The galley is truly a chef’s dream with all new appliances in 2018. There is a double oven, (2) Sub Zero full size refrigerators, cook top and microwave. There is ample storage in galley with custom cabinets to house the Custom China, an icemaker and a liquor cabinet.
The pilothouse in located forward of the galley and consists of (2) Stidd helm chairs and a large settee. The captain’s desk is in the port corner and has a stand alone computer system, Air conditioning monitoring system, and water maker controls. The helm consists of (6) Nauticomp sunlight view-able screens, and (3) Samsung screens to access all the Navigation and fish finding equipment. There is a stairway up to the flybridge/boat deck with an electronic door.
The master suite is accessed through a private stairwell in the salon. The master is full beam with large closets, ample storage and its own entertainment system complete with audio visual and access to the vessel’s remote monitoring system. The master head and shower is located on the port side and has a huge marble shower and Walnut finishes throughout.
On the port side is the VIP stateroom. There is large queen bed and a private head and shower in marble. Plenty of storage throughout the extra-large stateroom.
The guest stateroom to starboard is another extra large stateroom with (2) XL twin beds. This stateroom has another private head and shower with marble and ample head room.
The captain’s stateroom is located off the crew lounge and has a large bed with a private head and marble shower. Plenty of cabinets and storage. There is a large TV with access to the ship’s alarm system and a Furuno Navnet system with radar.
Through a stairwell on the starboard side of the pilot house is access to the lower section of the boat. A crew lounge is accessed through a private door with a sofa and table. The crew stateroom is located all the way forward and has upper and lower bunks and a private head and shower.
Working back from the crew area on the starboard side is a full size Sub Zero Freezer and plenty of cabinets for storage. On the port side is a laundry room with stacked washing machines and another full size Sub Zero freezer. Access to the chef’s cabin is in the laundry room down a stairway. The chef’s cabin has an elevated twin bed, private head and shower and plenty of storage.
The California deck is just aft of the salon. This area was specially designed with extra support from the upper deck so there would be no stanchions blocking the view looking back. There is a large table on the Cal deck with (6) custom chairs. Above the Cal deck table there is custom rod storage. A Sub Zero drink refrigerator in the port corner of the Cal deck for all your refreshments as well as a ladder leading up to the boat deck.
The boat deck is accessed through a ladder in the Cal deck or the stairway in the pilot house. There is driving controls overlooking the cockpit just behind the ladder. (2) tenders are housed on the boat deck. 18’ Nautica with a 115 hp Yamaha, and a 14’ Nautica with a 60 hp Yamaha. These tenders are launched with the large 5000 pound Steelhead crane. Forward of the tenders there are cabinets for storage, icemaker, (2) electric BBQ’s, Sub Zero Drink refrigerators, and a large lounge and settee. The flybridge has full controls as well as wing stations for easy docking. The Flybridge helm has full electronics with (5) Nauticomp sunlight view-able screens.
The cockpit is equipped with an extra large bait tank in the center with (6) custom built in tuna tubes. The swim step is separated into (3) separate slammer tanks that are plumbed for bait and has a macerator pump to empty the contents. There are plenty of cabinet forward of the bait tank as well as an ice chipper and custom cabinet for dive tank. A full size fighting chair is next to the bait tank and can be removed and stored on the boat deck. Just forward of the bait tanks a hatch opens up to reveal an extra-large fish hold. The fish hold is equipped with cold plates and a macerator and the temperature can be adjusted for refrigerator or freezer.
Access to the shop is located on the port side of the cockpit. The shop consists of a full size work area complete with tool box, stainless steel counters, custom rod storage day head, and two more custom build drawer style refrigerator/freezers.
The engine room is accessed through the shop where you will find the main machinery of the Vessel. The main engines are 12v2000 MTU’s rated @ 1500hp ea, with a cruising speed of 17 knots and top end speed of 20 knots. In June 2015 at 8400 hours the main engines were completely rebuilt. Current engine hours 3700 since the rebuild. The generators are located outboard of the mains and are Northern Lights 65 kW with approximately 13,500 hours as of 9/2019.

The vessel is equipped with an integrated hydraulic system, with hydraulic power provided by pumps mounted on the port and starboard main engine gears, A Steelhead ST 5000 eight-function davit powered by the hydraulic system Back up 240 VAC electric-hydraulic power pack. Naiad 353 roll stabilizer system with 32 sq. ft. fins. Keypower two-blade bronze propeller 18" 70 HP bow thruster JK Fabrication windlass and capstain Hydraulic spooling reel for back up anchor located in crew stateroom bilge.
There are (7) heads that discharge to the composite holding tank. The tank is discharged by a 230 volt diaphragm pump with a 2 4volt back up pump. Grey water is discharged into a composite tank and and discharged overboard by another 230 volt diaphragm pump with a 24 volt backup pump. There are deck pumpouts for both tanks. Grey water drains to sumps and to the grey water holding tanks. The holding tanks are evacuated automatically via either an AC sump pump or by a 24 VDC back-up pump.
Ventilation / Heating / Air-Conditioning engine room ventilation is via a Delta-T programmable system, featuring two 240 VAC fan units. Interior heating/air-conditioning is provided by an AquaAir A20-3-1VHGC 20 ton chill water system with 3-stage compressors with variable frequency drive for soft-start of the compressors, providing piped heated or cooled recirculated water to air handlers located in each major accommodation space. Each air handler features individual electronic controls.
The fresh water system is supplied from the potable water tanks by means of (2) 240 VAC pumps and one 24 VDC back-up pump. Hot water is provided by (2) 30 gallon 240 VAC water heaters. Piping is Schedule 40 plastic throughout. The system is filtered through multiple media filters as well as an UV lights system There is also a 230 volt high pressure wash down system with quick disconnects throughout the exterior of the boat. There are (2) watermakers onboard with 1.5 gpm per unit capacity.
(2) 12v2000 M91 main engines completely overhauled in June 2015 at 8400 hours. Current engine hours 3700 SMOH. The engines produce 1500 hp each and can move the Southern Way along at 20 knots. The engines are connected through a vibration dampener to ZF 3:1 transmissions coupled hydraulically to 4.5” stainless shafts swinging 5 blade bronze propellers.
(2) 1800 RPM diesel auxiliary generator sets. Both auxiliary generators are Northern Lights 65 kW units. Both generators feature full sound enclosures, wet exhaust, and heat exchanged cooling.

Steering is operated by a Jastram active hydraulic system with hydraulic pressure provided by the integrated main hydraulic system. In addition to steering at the pilothouse helm, flybridge, cockpit, boat deck stations are controlled by Simrad joggers. There are wing stations on the flybridge with engine controls and thruster controls.
AC ELECTRICAL: The AC electrical system consists of shore power inlets in the cockpit, including two 125/240VAC/100A inlet fittings to starboard port each fit with Glendinning shore power cable winders. The inlet fittings are wired first to a selector box and then through isolation circuit breakers and Charles IsoBoost 100 or an AT-SEA shore power converter AC electrical generation is provided by means of (2) 1800 Rpm diesel auxiliary generator sets. Both auxiliary generators are Northern Lights 65kW units. Both generators feature full sound enclosures, wet exhaust, and heat exchanged cooling.
DC ELECTRICAL: DC electrical power is supplied by (10) 12-volt 225 Amp AGM batteries in banks as follows (1) each 8D 12V bank for each generator start, located in the engine room. (4) each 8D in (1) 24V bank for ship’s power located in the shop (2) each 8D in (1) 12V bank for ship’s power and navigation electronics. (2) each 8D in 24V bank for engine starting.
SOUTHERN WAY is equipped with an Integrated Ship’s Information System (ISIS 2000) which monitors all the important ships system on various monitors throughout the vessel.
