2005 Lagoon 43 Powercat What makes CataTonic, the Lagoon 43 Power Cat unique?
CataTonic was built by the premier French boat builder Jeanneau which was later acquired by Beneteau now the worldwide leader in Catamaran boats.
Lagoon 43 Power Catamarans feature composite construction with vinyl ester and polyester resin hulls, deck and nacelle, solid fiberglass counter mold and structure, fixed keel ahead of propellers for grounding protection. There are stainless-steel safety rails with opening gates port and starboard. The stainless-steel safety gate is aft of each gangway with single stainless-steel lifelines, a teak toe rail and 9 mooring cleats.
There were 113 Lagoon 43 Power Cats manufactured.
During 2018-2020 New flybridge port and stb. engine control panels were installed with extensive engine and drive-line related work totaling over $35,000 was carried out to the highest standards by the highly respected Fort Lauderdale company, Diesel Doctor. Just a few of the many enhancements include:
drive-line and engine related component replacement or overhaul; both power shafts; Vetus shaft seals; thrust bearings; overhaul and repair of bilge pumps; redo all filters and fluids; ultrasound cleaning and rework of the heat exchangers, after coolers, exhaust elbows; 80 amp alternator; all hoses and stainless steel clamps; water pumps; all new zincs.
Additionally, in July 2018, the services of Lean Marine Inc., one of the most prestigious marine electrical service companies in Fort Lauderdale, were engaged to carry out detailed inspection and evaluation of the entire boat and engine electrical systems. In excess of $20,000 has been spent on these improvements ALL TO ABYC STANDARDS.
During 2017, $27,000 was spent on an under 500-hour replacement starboard engine.
Also Catatonic, unlike ANY other cat, features the ability to configure the main salon from a coffee table configuration with a much smaller table providing more room in the salon to one that converts to a full size dining table, complete with a leaf, that allows seating for six. These two examples are illustrated in the pictures.

CataTonic boasts a 38Gal/Hr water-maker with automatic flush, plumbed to both tanks. This gives her virtually "unlimited" fresh water. She was fitted with both a freshwater and a salt water wash downs and whole boat carbon and particulate filters.
The 4 electric freshwater heads can be converted to salt water if desired. The heads are macerating, which minimizes the chances of clogging and assure low maintenance. Each head is plumbed to its own gravity fed black water holding tank.

This is a 120v/60hz AC boat, with a boat-wide inverter and a 8-house battery bank much which has much more capacity that factory. The Magna Sine inverter handles inverting, switching and charging duties, which means that the 120v system is always on and working (if you want it to be) ... it switches automatically from shore power/generator. The unit is also able to deal with low current shore power by providing boost from the inverter as needed ... no more brown outs ever. Coupled with the revamp of the 120v AC system, the 12v system was also redesigned. Battery bank capacity was doubled, monitors installed as well as an auxiliary battery charger. All halogen lights were replaced with LED lamps to provide better energy conservation and longer life. To maximize charging while underway, high current wiring was upgraded and new smart charge controllers installed.

What makes the Lagoon 43 Power Catamaran one of the most sought after power catamarans today?
The 43 Lagoon Power Cat is known for its incredible use of space, both inside and out.
No other power catamaran in this size range even the Leopard 47, has as much storage space both inside and out especially this 4-stateroom version. CataTonic features staterooms with queen size beds and a total of 6 hanging lockers, 12 smaller lockers with over 30 shelves, 4 large pull out drawers. On the outside the 43 also features 5 huge lazarettes. Two in the swim platform, one in the sole of the aft salon and two at the bow.
In addition, the 43 Lagoon Power Cat is the only catamaran that features a huge full-beam teak swim platform that is 3ft. by 21 ft. long.
CataTonic also features a seating area forward of the cabin. This extended living space is a feature not found on other catamarans until 2015. There is also a teak sun deck aft of the cabin. And because an optional (not included) dinghy can be suspended from the swim platform-mounted SS davits, this sun deck provides an ideal extended living area for lounges and outdoor seating.
Whereas the 4-stateroom layout is ideal for large families or for those considering chartering or using staterooms for VRBO, the aft staterooms of the four-stateroom version can easily be converted to one single large, king size suite. The two aft staterooms are separated by a single partition, which can be removed to create this suite.
Another significant benefit is CataTonic's fuel economy. With her factory upgrade and powerful 315 hp Twin Yanmar 6LPA-STP2 diesels, at 7 knots, she is burning a scant 1.2 L per hour total. The 315's were a pricey upgrade, but one much desired because it provides the best of both worlds: fuel economy and sufficient speed WOT of 23 knots. to get out of the way of weather or make an anchorage before nightfall!
CataTonic enables turning on her own length making her easy to manage, even in the tightest places.
