The air-conditioned layout of the Moorings 554 has four double cabins, each with its own en suite head and shower. Of the four cabins, the aft port cabin serves as the crew's quarters. A spacious saloon with the galley along the port side. The interior wood finish is varnished. All bulkheads are bonded and glassed to the hull, giving superb strength and rigidity. The cabin sole is of durable, low maintenance teak and holly composite floor panels. Seat covers are high quality, breathable upholstery and the berth mattresses are covered in washable fabric. Styling, comfort and durability were priorities. Non-skid finish on companionway steps.
The yacht's electrical system is full 12V and 24V with the capability of being plugged into shore power. AC breaker panel for hot water heater, outlets and battery charger. 6 Kw generator with separate start battery. Reverse cycle air conditioning throughout. Heavy-duty house batteries with master switches. 12v electrical panel that includes a volt and ammeter for monitoring the house batteries. Copper grounding strap from shroud to keel. Autopilot. Color chart plotter with GPS navigation system. Flat screen DVD player in salon Multi-channel VHF radio with LCD display and 25 watt maximum power output, with remote handset in the cockpit Stereo radio/CD player with changer, two below deck speakers and two cockpit speakers. The spacious galley allows ample workspace for two people. There is a deep double sink of stainless steel with mixer faucet for hot and cold water. A garbage bin is enclosed and located beside the sink. A four-burner stainless steel stove with oven has an LPG shut-off solenoid. The stove is fully gimbaled and has pot clamps and heat guard. There are separate lockers for cutlery, crockery and all cooking utensils. 12v refrigeration with double plate system, serving a foam-insulated icebox and front opening freezer. Microwave oven. The refrigerator boxes can be pumped out by a 12V pump.
Yanmar 100Hp 4JH-TE naturally aspirated diesel engine. Manual engine shut-off. Push button engine start, in lieu of key. Reinforced cutlass bearing. Racor 500FG water separator fuel filter. One isolated gel-cell engine battery. 80 amp alternators with isolation diode. Three-blade propeller on stainless steel shaft. Engine instruments include gauges for RPM, fuel, ammeter, oil pressure, engine hour counter and water temperature. A sound alarm is provided to indicate high freshwater temperature and low oil pressure. Single lever engine controls mounted on the pedestal. Fuel tank, located aft. The tank has an emergency fuel shut-off, and inspection cap Twin leather covered stainless steel Destroyer wheel coupled in a cast aluminum quadrant via chain and cables. Emergency tiller.
The hull is hand laid-up GRP construction using multi-layers of glass roving and polyester resin with Kevlar reinforcements and a balsa sandwich deck for rigidity and insulation. The hull carries a comprehensive limited warranty against osmosis blistering Anti-fouling paint. The interior of the hull has GRP encapsulated beams giving longitudinal and latitudinal support to the hull and keel. Keel ballast is iron. Deck and hull are finished in white gel-coat, with the trademark Moorings striping and graphics. The deck has a molded-in non-skid pattern, providing excellent traction even in the most severe conditions. The hull-to-deck joint is chemically bonded with an elastomer sealant and further secured with a teak toe-rail. Zinc chromate keel bolt washers.
Deck storage includes two large cockpit lockers and a dedicated life raft locker, all self-draining. Single, deep chain locker forward. The fully sealed LPG locker meets ABYC and CE standards and is capable of holding two 10Lb / 4.5Kg gas cylinders. The rigid swim ladder with teak trimmed steps can be folded onto the swim platform. A deck shower neatly concealed in its own compartment, on the transom. The cockpit has a large table with an integral icebox, grab handle,and drink holders. Protection bar is fitted around forward hatch.
Mast & Rigging
Anodized aluminum mast with triple swept back spreaders. Four mast sheaves of aluminum. All mast wiring is run through a mast conduit. Cleats and rope clutches are added to the mast. Cast aluminum mast collar provides support for foot blocks for halyards, reef lines and outhaul. One mast head crane for spare halyard. The mast is equipped with an external ANTALtrack and mainsail sliders. The boom is equipped with two reefing lines and reefing hooks. Rope boom vang equipped with jam cleat and quick release shackle. Windex wind indicator on mast head. Profurl roller-furling genoa system. Discontinuous stainless steel 1 x 19 wire standing rigging. Cap shrouds and forward lowers are anchored to the hull by stainless steel tie-rods. Double backstays allow free access to the swim platform. All shrouds have swaged-on stainless steel end fittings and stemballs. Lower ends are fixed to custom deck plates with chromed bronze double screw turnbuckles.
Three electric Harken winches, two for the genoa sheets, one on coach roof for main sheet and halyards. Two winch handles with plastic handle holders. Rope clutches. Two genoa T-tracks are mounted on the side deck. Two genoa cars and spring loaded car stops on each genoa track. Mainsheet track with four part traveler control lines run through rope clutches. Vertical electric windlass with chain gypsy and rode drum and hand-held remote control operating up/down switch. Three cast aluminum mooring cleats with fair-leads are mounted on port and starboard sides of the deck for dock lines (total 6). Stainless steel double rail pulpit and pushpit. The pushpit incorporates a flagpole holder, horseshoe ring, outboard motor bracket and removable upper life line to allow access to the swim platform. Stainless steel tapered stanchions with double stainless steel wire life lines and gates port and starboard. Stainless steel stemhead fitting with roller. Dorade vents. Five hatches serve the saloon and forward cabins. Two hatches for ventilation into the forward heads. Two hatches and two opening ports serve the aft cabins. All overhead hatches have roller blinds. Two lockable companionway hatch boards with vent. Bimini and dodger with high quality Sunbrella canvas and stainless steel frames. Hanging cockpit light. Cockpit cushions for added comfort. Sails & Running Rigging
Semi-full battened mainsail and furling genoa built to Moorings specs. Spare halyard. One main halyard, one genoa halyard, outhaul, two reef lines, mainsheet and roller furling line are all of pre-stretched Dacron.
