The Cabo Rico 42PH Sea Pilot is a rare find. As Hull #1 of the pilothouse version of the successful and proven 42 design by Chuck Paine, it was put together with extraordinary attention to detail. Add to that her original and only owner who equipped her with the finest equipment and then maintained her at the highest level, and Sea Pilot still presents herself as a showpiece. The unique interior arrangement departs from the standard to provide a distinct and private forward stateroom, a dedicated galley and spacious pilothouse/salon. Sea Pilot has a boom-furling main and all three headsails on furlers, so setting, shortening and dousing sails is simple and fast. A couple could cruise comfortably indefinitely and offer a comfortable cabin of to guests. Paine blended the pilothouse seamlessly into the 42's classic lines so that the appearance is not one of a pilothouse boat at all. Sea Pilot is an elegant, extremely comfortable, and generously equipped world cruiser.

Cabo Rico's are renowed for their bulletproof construction. Bulkheads are tabbed in to both the hull and the deck, and keels are integral to the hull with internal ballast. Tankage is located in the keel to free up space and enhance stability. The hull itself is cored and vacuum bagged for stiffness. The rugged construction is one reason for this Cabo Rico's reputation as a definitive blue water boat. The nearly 27,000 lb displacement is a good indicator of this 42PH's rugged construction.
SAILS AND RIGGING:
The cutter rig configuration keeps sail sizes modest. With the reacher, yankee and staysail all on furlers, all foresails can be doused without going forward. The in-boom furling allows infinite adjustment of the mainsail size, again without leaving the cockpit. There are electric primary and main halyard winches. While this is a heavy, powerful boat, sail handling will not require much brawn.
