Mozart II | 2002 Mumby 48
Launched in 2002, Mozart II was the first of the renowned Mumby 48s built, and her classic design endured with later models over the years, with one recently winning the latest Cape to Rio race.
Arguably the most successful of Tim Mumby’s Australian designed and built catamarans, the Mumby 48 delivers excellent performance courtesy of her great sail plan and her light but tough aluminium construction. The 4mm aluminium hulls glide through the water yet are built to withstand impacts should you encounter obstacles while cruising.
Mozart II presents exceptionally well with an impressive galley-down configuration that delivers an abundance of space, storage and easy interaction with the other living areas. The spacious saloon and other living areas are well insulated for optimal comfort in all seasons and destinations, and the interior features rich timber accents and two-pac finish.
The catamaran comprises four cabins, with two generous bow cabins enjoying private ensuites and a convenient bathroom in the starboard hull for the other double cabins. There are also two good-sized crew berths in each bow.
She boasts a spacious dining area and relaxing saloon on the bridge deck and is an extremely comfortable floating home for a family or couple who have ambitious cruising plans or are just looking to explore local waters.
Decent sized 2018 39hp Yanmar diesels with shaft drives push her along easily at 9 knots when the wind doesn’t blow, and, with a top out at 11knots, she can really move quickly.
Mozart II has enjoyed just one owner, but a change in his plans meant the impressive catamaran is now available for sale.
