Step off the back deck of Clover Point and into the full width interior cabin, and you will notice a well equipped cabin with excellent outside visibility. Port side she is armed with a full size head, seating for 4 guests and entry into a large v-berth. Forward of the cabin door, there is a small counter with sink and helm station. From any spot inside the cabin, you have views of all the action happening outside. The captain's station gives the skipper access to a full arsenal of electronics, trim tabs, and engines controls.
The back deck layout of this classic fishing vessel is aided by the forward mounted Cummins 6BTA diesel engine. Because it's shaft & wheel design, the engine cowling is forward instead of up against the back transom. With this design, you have ample space in the cockpit to fight that trophy king salmon or halibut. The Cummins main engine is equipped with a trolling valve, that you can engage from the rear steer station. This device allows you to run the main engine at a lower RPM to a more desirable trolling speed. The rear deck is also armed with down-riggers, pole holders, and enough space to easily fish 6-8 people.
Engine and Mechanical
This Cold Water is powered by a single Cummins 6BTA main engine with a little over 4000 hours. She is coupled to a straight shaft and wheel design which moves her through the water at 22 knots cruise speed while burning 10 gallons an hour. Owning a vessel of this size and getting over 2 nautical miles per gallon is mostly unheard of. She has the main steering station in the cabin and a second steer station on the port side of the cockpit. She is set up to easily run the vessel and fishing gear from the back deck steer station.
Electrical and Electronics
Clover Point has a full arsenal of electronics including Furuno GPS, Radar, and Sounder. She also has 2 Icom VHF units, Aquatic stereo system with 2 speakers in the v-berth and 2 in the main cabin. From the main helm, you can also operate the trim tabs, wipers and as with the rear steer station, you can access the trolling valve.
The Clover Point has spent most of her life as a custom charter vessel and passenger transporter. She would make a great water taxi, charter vessel or with a few upgrades, she would make a great southeast Alaska recreational craft. With her large back deck and economical engine package, she would be a low cost alternative to many vessels on the market today.
