This is a unique situation and a chance to own a true "world class" cruising yacht for a fraction of market value.
Custom built from a proven Delta Marine/Stephen Seaton design at the Ed Wahl shipyard in British Columbia to heavy commercial boat standards. She is similar in concept to the famous, Spirit of Zopilote only larger.
Her legendary Gardner 8L3B main engine was purchased freshly re-manufactured from Germany. 230 hp @ 1150 rpm. w/Twin disk 4.13:1 gear turning a 5' prop provides unequaled reliability and fuel economy. Reportedly 8 gal/hr at 10.5 knots.
Service life for these engines can exceed 100,000 hours.....this engine has under 400 hours total time! (I personally start and run the main engine at least once a month.)
The equipment list is extensive and includes: Hydraulic bow and stern thrusters. Hydraulic stabilizers. Hydraulic get-home. 40 gph Watermaker. Telescoping hydraulic crane... on and on.
This custom yacht was launched in 2000 but remains essentially unused. All machinery, except domestic systems, are effectively new. Although it has remained at the dock, the owner continued to liveaboard and to maintain it. The last haul-out was approximately 4 years ago.
Please understand, this is a project: The hull topsides (green) will need to be refinished and repainted. The decks (heavy fiberglass) are intact but require some remedial cosmetic coating work.
There are a few unfinished items, a couple of access panels needed, ,a recessed stern anchor winch design was never completed, etc.
Remarkably, the entire cherry interior paneling is beautiful and intact. No one has smoked onboard.
There are the customary needs associated with a boat this age, such as new soft goods, etc.
However, all of the above could be considered cosmetic and could be finished locally or anywhere at your convenience. The vessel itself is functional as-is.
Until recently, this yacht was insured for $3M, the cost of her build 20 years ago!
Again, this is an chance to acquire a world class expedition yacht at a fraction of replacement cost.
Whether you are searching for a luxury live aboard, a long range cruiser, the ultimate survival escape pod, or all three!, this is a unique opportunity for the right buyer.
