The innovative Gozzard 36 open plan is a refreshing departure from the traditional sailing yacht layout that must be seen to be appreciated. Instead of dividing the interior into 6' sections, Ted Gozzard "imagineered" a uniquely functional and flexible plan, enabling an open main salon by day to become a roomy private stateroom by night. Her bright light richly finished interior joinery is handcrafted to furniture quality throughout in American cherry with a teak and basswood sole.
Descending the companionway the boat opens up before your eyes. You can see all the way forward where the traditional v-berth has been replaced with an airy main saloon. The saloon has the feel of a comfortable and elegantly appointed den. The opposing settees pivot together and become a centerline berth. A hinged bulkhead panel and double hinged door close off this area to create a huge private stateroom.
Continuing aft, there is a dinette that extends from the center of the boat outboard to starboard. Continuing aft on the starboard side is the galley.
On port is the forward facing navigation station followed by a freezer and then the head with a separate shower stall.
The master cabin is aft to starboard and features a queen size berth with a custom mattress, standing room for changing, hanging locker, and storage cabinets.
Ventilation and light from two hatches, 11 opening ports, and four bulkhead mounted fans.
Elegant and clever touches abound. Hinged screen doors and pocket and hinged hatch screens keep the pests away. Hidden behind a locker door, an entertainment center swivels out for viewing from a main salon settee. There is a cedar lined coat-length hanging locker at the forward bulkhead, and storage is abundant throughout.
