Designed by Holman & Pye to the remit of Oyster Yachts for a safe, fast blue water cruising yacht capable of being sailed short-handed. There have been almost 50 examples of the Oyster 53/55 built, earlier vessels were built as Oyster 53s and the transom later extended.
‘Miss Molly’ features a teak interior, recently varnished floorboards and new upholstery. The boat is in good condition down below but will require from a buyer some TLC above decks and below the waterline, including attention to topside paint, decks, and rig. Asking price is reflective of this.
Oyster 55 successes include twice top points scoring boat in Antigua Race week, ARC class wins, Europa Rally successes and the single most prolific boat choice for the Trade Wind Round the World Rally with seven boats taking part.
There is little doubt that the Oyster 55 is a classic amongst quality ocean going yachts. Described by many as the ultimate circumnavigator they are equally at home racing the fleet at Antigua race week. With nearly 40 built they have proved time and again that there is no substitute for quality, design and a wealth of experience.
