Build started in 1982 and continued over an 11 year period, launching in 1993. Construction is of single chine marine ply (5/8” best quality marine grade) all secured to teak frames with silicon bronze screws, mahogany superstructure and solid mahogany transom. All very heavily constructed in best quality materials. Self draining aft cockpit with tiller steering, Bermudan sloop rig with small bowsprit and triple keel, 4 berth internal layout in 2 cabins with around 5’10” headroom.

SAILS and RIG:
Slab reefing mainsail with green mainsail cover. Genoa roller reefing system by Rotostay with furling No 1 Genoa and blue UV strip. All sails in very good condition. Varnished wooden mast and boom with stainless steel standing rigging (all 1993).
Lister Petter 20HP twin cylinder inboard diesel engine with heat exchanger. 25 gallon stainless steel fuel tank with consumption per hour of around 1/3 of a gallon at a cruising speed of around 5 knots. Shaft drive to 3 blade fixed propeller. Alternator charging to 3 x 12 volt batteries. Deep sea seal and cutlass bearing fitted 2014.

Ring lifebuoy, distress flares, fire extinguishers, Whale gusher 30 manual bilge pump, auto bilge pump.
She has a Dolphin wind generator on the transom triple charging her batteries. Her galley has an Optimus 2 burner gas cooker with oven and grill, water supply to the sink is from a 35 gallon stainless steel water tank. Her separate heads compartment has a Baby Blake marine toilet. Fabric upholstery with curtains and a hard floor.
There are 2 “V” berths in the forward cabin and 2 single settee berths in the saloon.
"Blackwater Witch"has been a local boat for many years, her present owners purchased her in December 2017 and have spent the last few years refurbishing her. Much work has been carried out recently including renewal of many timbers starboard aft and part of the hull on the starboard quarter around the waterline but some work still remains. In the owners words "We cannot give an absolutely definitive answer to the question about how much more work is needed as we never had time to do the necessary exploratory work. We weren’t expecting the starboard quarter to be nearly as bad as it was with much rot in the frames etc. as can be seen in the ‘before’ photos, but all the signs are that the rot on the port quarter will be not nearly as bad. There is obviously a small amount of finishing required on the starboard side but all structural work is done. We therefore think that with careful removal of the plywood skin on the port side that there may be little to do other than re-skin it. That isn’t to say that there is no soft wood and possibly rot in the lazarette area on the port side. There should be enough plywood in store to be able to deal with this providing Tollesbury Sailing Club haven’t removed it."
Once complete "Blackwater Witch" would make a wonderful family cruising yacht, ideal for the East Coast!
