A rare opportunity has now arisen to acquire a unique Cigarette Rough Rider 46, powered by twin military-conceived Seatek's turbo diesel engines, carrying plenty of sophisticated character, stunning presence and reliability for both captain and passengers.
The raw power of the twin 750hp Seatek high-performance diesels gives her a top speed of 60 knots and a solid cruise pace of 40 knots. This sleek powerboat has a stable and beautiful ride thanks to the timeless quality of the unmistakable hull of world-famous US Cigarette Racing Team's powerboats.
Cigarette powerboats have an unrivaled heritage within the high-performance speedboat industry and was the pioneer of offshore racing since the early 70s. The mystique around these boats and their larger-than-life founding character, Don Aronow, still amazes the world today.
This is a unique chance to become part of this racing heritage and powerboat elite! This instant classic offshore racer combines high speed with first-timer's ease of use and has all the comforts of a day cruiser (large sunbathing surfaces, electric anchor windlass, rear diving platform with incorporated ladder, toilet, air-conditioning, TV, generator, etc), all for about 1/10th of the retail price of a brand new Cigarette. Its imposing presence and length of nearly 50 foot, are a doubtless statement of stamina when entering iconic ports such as Saint-Tropez, Monaco or Porto Cervo on a steaming hot summer afte
This 46 Rough Rider was delivered new in Europe in 1993, and came factory-fitted with two Mercruiser engines. In 2006, it underwent an extensive overhaul at the shipyard of powerboat engineering and racing legend Fabio Buzzi. Two brand new Seatek 750 hp, inline-6, 24 valve turbodiesel engines were fitted, along with a 4 foot-long rear platform to accommodate the twin Trimax surface trimmable drives.
Please note: The Seatek diesel engines have been conceived, designed and built as fast, military-focused marine engines, as opposed to several "high-performance" diesels which basically are a "marinized" version of car - or worse, truck -engines. Compared to the petrol-based Mercruisers, these turbodiesel Seateks allow a reduction running costs by at least 60%. Thus, compared to equally powerful gasoline V8 engines, these military Seatek diesels will be a much more economic and durable alternative, although their roaring sound and torque are simply exhilarating, thanks to the turbo boost pushing you back in the driver's seat.
The result by the adoption of the Trimax drives is the minimal loss of power and the precision and adjustability of the power trim to better manage the handling of the boat just like a normal sterndrive.
The rear platform also works as a practical diving and sunbathing spot which makes accessing the boat much easier. In 2015/2016, the engines were taken apart for a thorough examination at the Seatek factory and upgraded with various new parts. The transmissions have recently been similarly overhauled and several new features have been added over time to make the boat more user-friendly.
An efficient and robust mechanical fuel pumping system has also been installed, allowing the captain to choose which tank to source fuel from, resulting in evident boat-balancing benefits as well as ease of maintenance (no electronics, etc).
Please call or e-mail us about this unique powerboat opportunity. The Cigarette is located about an hour drive from Nice airport, and buyers are strongly advised to come and see this iconic boat.Transport by special truck anywhere to can be easily arranged... or feel free to ride the boat directly to your own home waters!
