Stylish yacht from Italy's legendary Riva--established over 150 years ago, by the middle of the 20th century Riva had become "the first choice of kings and queens, emperors and sultans, actors and sportsmen, matinee idols, the international jet set and business tycoons worldwide." Riva is still in business today, building beautiful yachts that are of course eye-wateringly expensive!

"Rivas are born from inside" stated Riva chief designer Giorgio Barilani. "They develop around the idea of the maximum availability of the space. Spaces should be as broad as possible. And here must be uninterrupted visual continuity between the stern and the bow deck". That innate predisposition to balance, which was inherent to the character of Carlo Riva and his classic wood Rivas, became a part of the yard's DNA and passed, through the pencil of Giorgio Barilani, into fiberglass production.

Not surprisingly, the result gives rise to a slender shape, with refined elegance and style, harmonized by an abundance of curved lines that is linked, in a formal stylistic continuity with the tradition of those mahogany speedboats.

The exterior design of Superamerica in particular reflects that Mediterranean design concept--the lightness of lines is obtained with large, continuous glass surfaces, only subtly interrupted by thin polished stainless stainless steel uprights--and with about  250 launched over a 20 year production period (encompassing five different models), the Superamerica is one of Riva's most popular larger yachts.

This particular example, hull # 209 with a striking Claret Red and white Awlgripped hull, is one of only a handful of classic Riva's for sale in the US, and is the HP (High Performance) model, of which only about a dozen were built.

Il Drago was owned for many years by the family who owns one of the biggest boatyards in San Diego so was constantly maintained and continuously upgraded and today shows bristol, much newer than her actual age. Actually, this doesn't do her justice, she looks LIKE NEW and really must be seen to be appreciated! Note she's still professionally maintained, engines recently serviced, last hauled and painted in 2018. Two heads, two staterooms, twin 510 hp MAN diesels (last serviced June of 2018), bow thruster, and KILLER stereo system.

Also note that she's lying in a transferable Sausalito Yacht Harbor slip with pride of place right on the boardwalk. The big slips in this marina are very hard to come by, LET ALONE one on the boardwalk; this is a material benefit if you're able to take advantage...
